Which has nothing to do with what Americans know. Did you entirely miss the point?

My point was that a media campaign to inform Afghans why we invaded their country would really help prevent more terrorism.

Getting warmer, but I have no idea what you're talking about. What book?

That's because our media isn't doing it's job, instead we have to very slowly learn about things like this

http://www.reddit.com/r/todayilearn...that_in_the_cold_war_the_united_states_spent/

The result of me posting stuff like this though, only results in 50 you hate America posts, 25 you are a jihaist posts, people getting pissed off at me, and then finally just ignore and go away
The 20 phases of internet denial

edit- I think we should fix shit on our end before we start preaching what other countries should do

I was focused on our end, but you're correct that it needs to work both ways. Though I dare say Afghans won't care why we dropped bombs on them, we're still the enemy to tribesmen. Afghanistan is the last place in the world to bridge the gap between two peoples.

With 1.6 billion Muslims, there are far better places to campaign for outreach.

Well, we know now that millions of books teaching terror to kids worked
I'd bet the opposite could work too

Now that I know your context, I can already see where that fails. The men in power there would not allow such books to exist.

Tribesmen is a pretty loose term

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ethnic_groups_in_Afghanistan

Most tribesmen in Afghanistan are probably a lot more like you then you figure
They just want to be left alone politically
They would welcome you for a visit though, invite you in, feed you, make sure your happy
You can just tune into a few Vice shows to check that out or watch numerous docs on the place

And then yes, you may run into that tribe that was taught a different way

Now that I know your context, I can already see where that fails. The men in power there would not allow such books to exist.

And visa versa
I can see that

More on the story

Boko Haram formed amid Nigerian government corruption

http://www.cbc.ca/news/world/boko-haram-formed-amid-nigerian-government-corruption-1.2636547
As always, the one thing we absolutely positively beyond even a shadow of a doubt know about the actions of Islamic terrorists is that their actions (and indeed, even their very existence) are never their own fault. In fact, I'm absolutely positively beyond even a shadow of a doubt positive that once we dig deeply enough, the party responsible for the kidnapping, forced conversion, and selling into slavery - not to mention Nigerian government corruption - will be America.

I'm preparing my shocked face as we speak.

1. Kidnap young girls and sell as sex slaves.
2. ?
3. Big win in fight against government corruption!

That's quite the leap you took there
I guess there's nothing I can type that could help you with that
Sad that..
But you hang in there buddy, tomorrow's another day

No local power in the region can muster a military force to march against and end Boko Haram?

Very true.

Much of the area of northern Nigeria is savannah although.

And much of that is forest-savanna.

Just a basic understanding of the size of the place is all I was going for.
