Eh, let the suckers have it. Unless you're laying on the screen itself, or are an eagle, you won't be able to tell a sh*t of a difference between 1080p and this joke.
 
Too bad there is no broadcasting standard for that resolution, so it is pretty much pointless for anything other than specialized uses.
 
There won't be any content in that format or resolution for a long time. Too many companies have too much money tied up in Blu-ray and HDDVD to jump ship so soon.

Thats a question that can't be answered how you'd like it, in a clean number, but you'd have to stand painfully close to this TV compared to 1080p to see a difference.

Yeah, I think at about a 40 degree viewing angle I wouldn't want to go any larger than that. I'd have to start turning my neck to see different parts of the screen. At this viewing angle I think you can only really tell the difference up to 1440p.

Sounds cool for computer usage, but for a regular display with nothing even close to that native res as far as source material, seems kind of pointless.

Eyes can reportedly see 65-85MP or something like that, BUT we only focus on 20MP or something like that at any given time as not everything is in focus.

Source resolution has peaked at 1080p for the near future. (Next 10 years or so)

Display resolution will likely go the way of digital cameras and we'll see 3, 4, 5+ megapixel displays come out in that same time frame.
 
depends on how quickly hd's get cheaper i guess. if in 5 years 1080p is in every house because panels become insane cheap then the high end will be open for something more.

Really. Cable companies have a hard time getting bandwidth for 720i channels right now.

The year is 2012. Quad HD is the only way. Bandwidth is no longer any concern.
