I think we might just barely escape this storm.. its raining right now, and possible snow of less than an inch tomorrow.

Having looked at the radar yesterday, and today, it honestly seems like it got worse, but at the same time also was pushed more north...

They just closed down all county and city govt in MKE for tomorrow.
Wife just emailed and told me the shit is picking up. Winds roaring, temps dropping.... gonna be sweet!

We're getting hit with more ice now and will be getting even more tonight, with winds picking up. They closed our office today and I don't see them not closing tomorrow as well unless something drastic changes.

They sent out an email restating the firm's "rules"... if the city buses are running they are open. Though honestly I don't see the buses running in driving snow at 40mph not to mention who in their right mind is going to be standing out in it wiating for the bus.

Ok....I'm heading out...

It's friggin insane out in Central, IL. Trees are half bent over from the wind...snow flying in all directions. No clue how much has actually come down. It could be baren in one spot and 2 feet deep in another. It's a really light powder that is going to be a drifting mofo.

My wife got the official word she's not coming home from the hospital. They are putting them up in hotels down the street and working double shifts until they can get extra shifts coming in a day or two when they are able to make it in.

It's going to be crazy waking up tomorrow morning.

we're getting pelted with ice chunks. waiting for the mother in law to get home from work. i halfway expect to get a call from her telling me to pick her up from some random spot on the highway.

We got an e-mail stating that we are scheduled to be open. With the beginning of the month, our clientele is mainly the elderly. They won't be coming out in this shit. I love my snow tires, but driving a lowered Cavalier will probably get stuck. If not, I'm flying my R/C helicopter at work.

we got a company message at like 4 o'clock today from HR/health & safety saying basically this

"We know Armageddon is coming tomorrow but we still expect you to be at work, all plants and offices will be open"

They just put out notice that three out of the 5 primary counties around me have called off all plows for the night. It's too dangerous for them. So yeah....places are pretty screwed tomorrow around here. No way they'll be able to get back on the roads in time for anyone in rural areas to even think about getting to work at a reasonable time tomorrow.

My last company was like that. Not only that, they would also include "We expect you to be at work on time, so please leave for work earlier." This company claimed to be all for health and safety, but they'd magically ignore snow emergencies declared in the area.

Screw that. My current company's policy is that you can judge for yourself and if you elect to stay home, you can take a vacation day or just make the time up with no penalty.

I helped push a lady out of the drive thru at spangles in Lawrence. She was the first customer and I was the second in a little over 6 hours I was told. Kids wanted burgers for supper and sonic, wendys, and mcdonalds were all closed.

The state of kansas offices in topeka/shawnee county are closed again for a second day in a row. This doesn't happen.

I drove back to Lawrence from Topeka around 3:30 and had no problems, but driving in town was another story.

they did also say to be careful when traveling to work and call your supervisor/boss if you were gonna be late.

I was planning out just working form home anyway. petty sure the building will be pretty empty except for the people on the manufacturing floor who have to work. i bet 70% of the engineers and such don't show up

the company i work for is actually great, we just cant take time off from manufacturing, we are already running beyond capacity to fill demand

I've been watching the radar and you guys must have a shit ton of freezing rain. It seems to be nothing but that all day for Indianapolis. I saw a convoy of maybe 12 electric trucks and other big gear on my way home from work heading east/north. If it's that much ice you guys are going to have serious power problems.
