Snowden allowed to leave Russia airport

I'm amazed at how muted the US reaction has been. Its like the rest of the world has been far more vocal, when its Americans that should be angry.

Maybe the powers that be have told your major news networks that the public do not need to hear about this?

Don't you know? The white house controlling the media is a vast right-wing conspiracy theory. It can't possibly be true... 🙄

How can we pay attention to Snowden when the Royal baby was being born!

Actually the reaction to Snowden has been more than I expected. The story is now nearly a month old and it is still being discussed. We have had a lot of dialogue on the NSA and there is even an amendment to defund the NSA.

Our nation's too preoccupied with their iphones and non-stories like Trayvon to care about real issues like the NSA, Syria and our police state. sad...

well I heard there's like a vote in congress going on that could remove funding to surveillance using the patriot act.

i really dont see the big whoop. Govt spying, no shit, havent they been spying on us since the discovery of electricity? Or is it because some dumb politician said the US inst spying?

Oddly, we are more preoccupied with the fate of Snowden than we are with what he blew the whistle on.

Well yeah. The whole saga with China and Russia has made this THE moment in time when you can point at the US and say "it is not a Superpower anymore."

Once he is released, Bond-like spy games will start in Moscow. The US/EU agents in Moscow are probably on high alert to kill him, while the Russians might use him as a bait to identify the said agents. Meanwhile, America is preoccupied about the death of some wannabe gangster.

Sadly nobody cares, but at least we're more aware of what is going on than we were before.

Did you care? Do you have A Choice? No...

It's trendy to say for americans: "we have a choice"....NO...you don't...
Even OP points to CNN link....

What Choices do you have? as in ANYWHERE - politics, arts, music, literature, cinematograph...etc...

YOU DON't HAVE CHOICES - Your Choices are - Your Radio, Your TV, Your Newspapers...

Al are the same....masybe, just a lil bit diference...

Americans are LIMITED(No Choice) to Hollywood movies...I'm not right? how many here do know about french, italian, russian cinematography?

Americans are LIMITED to Music...there were many bands in other parts of the World with hit songs that americans never ever heard of these

Americans are LIMITED to a Literature, a few even know their own - an american hero - Kurt Vonnegut, no need to talk about those like Dostojevsky, EM Remarque, Franz Kafka - they take, what they're given - some soap opera's books...

MY RADIO TALKS TO ME....

Liberals are being quiet for obvious reasons. (i.e., Do as I say, not as I do)
Conservatives are split on this issue. (i.e., Neo-conservatives v. Neo-confederates)

Sucks.

Liberals are just as upset as conservatives about this. Mother Jones, which is linked to above, is a well know liberal magazine which has been covering this from the start.

A lot of liberals are very upset about it too.

As a matter of fact, i think think this is one issue where we are all unified.

No one thinks extreme mass surveillance is okay.

Uh no. Sorry, but most of congress is on board with this stuff, the president and his minions are complete authoritarians, and even the majority of the population just shrugs and goes on watching what the kardashian tramps do next.

Congress hasn't represented the wishes of the people for four decades.

Apparently Obama has called the presidential doctor to get a prescription for some butthurt cream to deal with the fact that Snowden has been granted a 1 year asylum in Russia.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...TEAMED-Russia-grants-Snowden-asylum-year.html

That's going to be mighty tough to get rescinded. I think Snowden is untouchable now. Putin is a tough crazy bastard (aren't all Russians?) and he will not bend to the US' will over this no matter what. I agree with the sentiment stated in this article by one guy:

A former U.S. diplomat who served in Russia told MailOnline that Menendez will not get what he wants.
'Putin is a megalomaniac,' the longtime foreign service official said. 'And there's practically nothing Obama can do to bring him to the table on this, short of threatening to nuke the Middle Eastern oil fields that keep the Russian economy churning.'
