The ice storm continues. It seems one of my neighbors attempted to brave it this morning, and based on his tracks, damn near killed himself in the process.
I do not admire his foolishness, he could have killed someone else or more likely smashed valuable property.

Yesterday I was trying to decide between pancakes and whisky, or smoked salmon, cheese and whisky for breakfast. Woke up, and didn't feel like whisky, so I had pancakes, sausage and eggs. Still a great weekend breakfast during the week. Snow total is a little disappointing so far, but it beats the disaster the rest of the winter was.

Getting a bunch of sleet here. I was hoping for winter wonderland, but it's not really that. Got a nice blanket of white on the ground, so it's better than nothing. If the roads weren't so icy, I'd go take a nice long walk in the woods. Finally opened the whiskey(West Cork Irish), have a fire going, and some mellow music on. I'm enjoying watching the birds, and any day I'm not working is a good day.

Still looking forward to next year. Hopefully I'll get a winter. Two winters in a row without winter so far.

Close to whiteout conditions here (photo doesn't really capture it), about 8" or so on the ground so far and coming down heavy.

Far more sleet than expected. Snow totals are way down from what was originally predicted because we're getting the mix rather than the flakes It's nice to have 10" instead of 20" which was the forecast as of the time I went to bed last night, but man, this stuff is back-breaking. Shoveling 2" of sleet is worse than shoveling 5" of snow. REALLY slippery.

Glad we have such accurate weather people.

50 miles. That's about what they missed by. Storm hugged the coast more than expected and brought in warm air sooner. If it had stayed a little further offshore it would have brought more moisture and stayed colder longer.

I flew back from Aruba yesterday to Baltimore, MD. It's a first for me from seeing clear water white sand beaches and then about 6 hours later seeing snow on the ground. Very odd feeling and I'm just glad my flight was not today because I didn't want the hassle of dealing with finding a hotel for a night (or two not sure if flights will be canceled tomorrow).

But as usual, the weather men were completely wrong about their prediction and estimates. They called for it starting at 7pm and 8-10 inches, and it didn't even start until about 9pm and we had maybe 2 inches of snow this morning.

It fucking sucks going from the perfect fucking weather for a week at 80 degrees with a constant breeze to fucking snow. I almost planned that trip perfectly, only missed it by a damn week.

Barely missed Manhattan/the entire island and hit just north. We got less than 2-3" and a lot of sleet. They predicted 18".

Got about a foot yesterday in the MKE area.
Lots of lake effect snow so amounts varied from area to area -- hell in some cases from block to block.

I was supposed to get 12-18" of snow here in Southern Connecticut. I actually got about 2 inches of slush. Still, the roads are closed per the orders of our governor. Lovely.

My wife and I are going to Maui for a week in June. It will be nice to get away from the perfect weather in San Diego for a week. ;)

Too easy, you make it too easy. I'd look at a shovel like that or one with wheels, but we almost never get snow/sleet like this. 90% of the time I'm shoveling it's the pretty light fluffy stuff.

You must be east. Here in the western side we got it a lot worse. Still half of what we expected, so I'll take it.

San Diego doesn't quite have perfect weather like Aruba does. It's up there but not quite as good.

I'd take Maui's weather over San Diego too.

If you can tolerate living on an island. I couldn't tolerate living on Maui. It is too small and too laid back... even by San Diego standards.

Took the dogs out before the blizzard started. They were not happy. Snow turned to rain so we only got 8" instead of 15" but it's heavy as hell.

We didn't get much but my dog loves the snow and wants to go out every 5 minutes to burrow and roll around in it. Keeps running around the yard and sliding into it and rolling around on her back.
