First he mass-mailed the Rachel Arlington story (10 year old girl who has cancer, AOL and ZDnet are tracking the fwds: to pay 32 cents a forward).

Then the Stella Awards (frivolous lawsuits, etc..)

Co-Worker claims "Oh...well, I thought they were fake, but I liked the stories."

Can't stand fwd:'s....

I couldn't find anything on Snopes about the Stella Awards ... AFAIK, they are legit. IIRC, the guy started collecting true outrageous lawsuit stories in response to one of the urban myth lawsuit emails floating around. I think Stella is the first name of the lady that sued McDonalds over the too-hot coffee.

A search for "stella" was all it took.

Yea, I did that, but didn't actually find the word "Stella" on the page??
Here is a link to the Stella Awards that I mentioned.

That's why I'm glad I work for a company that can fire you for sending crap like that, keeps my inbox squeaky clean.

I can tell 99% of the time whether it's a hoax email or not by just reading the email. I feel no sympathy to those gullible people that forward this crap or send their bank account numbers over to Nigeria.

The problem is, I work in a freaking IT department, and people here still forward that crap.

Bring it up to your manager

My family and friends no longer include me in their forward email list because of this :D.

I used to work with a guy who spent a great deal of time trying to think up urban legends and crappy fwd emails. I don't know if he ever succeeded but I would guess that he probably did.
