SNL- bets for when it will be canceled?

SNL has been pretty bad for years but, with the recent cast of unfunny millenials, is completely unwatchable. What I don't get is that the writers don't even seem to be trying - when you're a young, up and coming writer wouldn't you even TRY to be funny so that you have a career? Also, there's such an abundance of young talent coming into NYC trying to make it, seems like it wouldn't be hard to get together a decent writing staff together if they just tried. Colin Jost, the head writer, is so just terrible that I'm guessing he gives amazing head.

This utter lack of effort from the producers to the cast - do you think this is a conspiracy of sorts to just destroy the legacy of the show? Is Lorne Michael just bored of the show but on contract, so is he trying to run it into the ground?

I'm betting it'll be off the air in 5 years or less, any takers?

SNL has been horrible for decades. They never cancel it.
Still makes money, still a standby of NBC. Its not going anywhere.

In fact if you listen to some of the professional TV reviewers, they've had more bad seasons than good seasons overall.

They're good for occasional greatness, especially at election time. Look at some of the debate parodies they've done in the last 10 years or so. But yeah, other than that it's unwatchable.

It's best is when a public figure does something stupid that they can mock. Hasn't been happening enough lately.

Watching SNL is like mining for gold - usually it sucks but sometimes it pays off.

Yeah, but why would you sit through 55 minutes of lame comedy when the 5 minutes of good material will quickly end up on YouTube and Hulu?

Maybe I am wrong but aren't most of the writers members of the cast? I know Tina Fey was head writer for a while. . . .

Edit -- yup. Many cast members are/were writers -https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Saturday_Night_Live_writers

So the unfunny lies in many cases with the cast itself. In more ways than one.

Pretty much this, about the only time I watch it is highlights off YouTube about every year or so.

Every single generation hates "this new, young cast who just aren't funny."

Welcome to being old, fucker! :D

That's kinda always been his way, if I recall.

yeah, but he looked like he was lost and not only that he looks bloated. :p

Demi looked frickin hot as hell. Can't really sing worth a shit, but her body was a good 10. Thank god for DVR and fast forward, otherwise the show is pretty much unwatchable.
