Mine as well start eating that hat right now. We already know from multiple sources that it scores 9100+. You simply cannot compare the pipes on the R520 to those on the G70. They are apples and oranges.

Don't feel bad though, your GTX will still be the second-best card out there.

Just to point out that NO X1800 XT is going to be available at launch, and thats straight from the horse's mouth. They promised availbility around 1 month after the launch.

Those X1800 XTs are one of the 10 press edition cards, plus the sell sheets point out that its going to be "available" at December.

One of the retailers in England pointed out that the X1800 XLs might also meet availablity problems.

Just been from rage3d forums, they too are alot excited although, i hope ATi can deliever what they have said and promised to us.

Better hope your hat is made of chocolate. No telling what ATI will pull at the last second.
I have heard 9000, but no confirmation of course. So just by that alone, would you prefer a stroghganoff, or a hollandaise sauce with your dome cap?

Its from OCuk, and the quotes straight from the "don" himself (the admin, etc, the retailer)
He also claimed various other things that didnt turn out right. He is a salesperson first, he is trying to get rid of as many 7800s.

And that wouldnt constitute "straight from the horse's mouth".

I don't see the adjustable VCORE being something they will implement, I'm just guessing, but I think the tolerences are much smaller than they are for CPU's making it a lot easier to fry your chip. Sometimes you have to protect the idiots from themselves, even if it does void the warranty and a message stating that is plastered all over the box and manuals, people are still going to RMA their boards after pushing it .25 past the limit. This will cause too many headaches for ATI and its partners.

Well, obviously you don't just allow unlimited adjustability. You give a few allowed settings, maybe allowing like 5-10% over default, something that is safe but will help you squeeze a bit more speed out of the card. This is how it's done with motherboards, isn't it?

Depends on the manufacturer, I wasn't suggesting that they would give users free reign but even within the supposed "safe" limits allowed in most mainstream motherboards, you can still very easily fry your chip if you don't know what you are doing.

I would hope that people would be more careful with their $500+ GPU's than their $150 CPU's but I still think it's a leap that NVIDIA and ATI are not yet ready to make.

I cant find the link right now, been to busy in B3D, and rage3d etc.

Just the fact crossfire was paper launched twice is one of the reasons why, availibilty on the X1800 XT is going to be limited.

Plus that doesnt mean availibility on X1300 and X1600 cards are going to be limited.
All i am saying is that the X1800 XTs the higher end parts are going to be either not available, or going to be in limited quantites.

Could this be the reason ATI reduced their BBA warranty to 1 year from 3? Sounds like they know people will be frying their cards.

We don't know that yet, but it would appear that it will run hot if the dual slot cooler indicates anything.

Get ready to eat yout hat - this aint no ordinary pipes - it's more like 2 arrays of 16 units each, 1 for pixel shaders and 1 for texturing.

which multiple sources ? I still think it will score about 7500

hope that AT will have their X1800XT card on wednseday. Not worried about general availability cause I'm not gonna buy one. I already have a better card.

Regardless of warranties their partners still would have to spend a lot of money in labor costs to test a much higher than normal RMA percentage due to giving kids the keys to the candy store. Most such claims would be made within the first year anyhow.

I'm not telling that you are wrong on the availability rumor, just that ATI themselves havent said or promised it. 😉

Ok, you go right ahead and think that if it makes ya feel better. I'm not gonna spend any time collecting links for you. Just wait for Wednesday and be sure to enjoy that hat. A little barbeque sauce might make it go down easier. PLONK.
