They're going to dip their arms in and have a friend tap it with a chizzle.

I don't see the adjustable VCORE being something they will implement, I'm just guessing, but I think the tolerences are much smaller than they are for CPU's making it a lot easier to fry your chip. Sometimes you have to protect the idiots from themselves, even if it does void the warranty and a message stating that is plastered all over the box and manuals, people are still going to RMA their boards after pushing it .25 past the limit. This will cause too many headaches for ATI and its partners.
Well, obviously you don't just allow unlimited adjustability. You give a few allowed settings, maybe allowing like 5-10% over default, something that is safe but will help you squeeze a bit more speed out of the card. This is how it's done with motherboards, isn't it?

Depends on the manufacturer, I wasn't suggesting that they would give users free reign but even within the supposed "safe" limits allowed in most mainstream motherboards, you can still very easily fry your chip if you don't know what you are doing.
I would hope that people would be more careful with their $500+ GPU's than their $150 CPU's but I still think it's a leap that NVIDIA and ATI are not yet ready to make.

Could this be the reason ATI reduced their BBA warranty to 1 year from 3? Sounds like they know people will be frying their cards.

Mine as well start eating that hat right now. We already know from multiple sources that it scores 9100+. You simply cannot compare the pipes on the R520 to those on the G70. They are apples and oranges.
Don't feel bad though, your GTX will still be the second-best card out there.

Those X1800 XTs are one of the 10 press edition cards, plus the sell sheets point out that its going to be "available" at December.
One of the retailers in England pointed out that the X1800 XLs might also meet availablity problems.
Just been from rage3d forums, they too are alot excited although, i hope ATi can deliever what they have said and promised to us.

I'm not telling that you are wrong on the availability rumor, just that ATI themselves havent said or promised it. 😉Originally posted by: Cookie Monster
I cant find the link right now, been to busy in B3D, and rage3d etc.
Just the fact crossfire was paper launched twice is one of the reasons why, availibilty on the X1800 XT is going to be limited.
Plus that doesnt mean availibility on X1300 and X1600 cards are going to be limited.
All i am saying is that the X1800 XTs the higher end parts are going to be either not available, or going to be in limited quantites.
Oh boy, it was fun knowing you. :laugh:Originally posted by: DidlySquat
