So what I changed was the "Load Optimized CPU OC Setting" to 4.0GHz? Is that correct?
You could try that, just for fun, = that's Auto Overclock. Better to do it manually, though.

I also had an option to do the same with GPU (1400 and above)
And there was an option on top of everything about TurboBoost and when I enabled that, it changed everything and put that setting to 47 instead of 40..

I'm really confused lol..
Leave GPU / Turbo Boost off, for now. Just get yourself stable @ 4.0, for a start.

My startup to windows is also pretty slow, probably 10 seconds..
That's because of the bad oc. You need to fiddle some more.

So I went back in and used the CPU Configuration CPU Cores (All Cores) = 40 ? That is correct right?

Now I started up Windows and it was still pretty slow, 10-15 seconds..

The Core Speed keeps changing from 1600 to 4000 (when I open an application, etc.). How do i interpret this? Did I do it right?

yeah the screen where I input my password takes about 15 seconds to popup from start..
Does it happen on stock clocks as well?

Yes, the processor clocks down whenever there is no load. Looks good so far. Try to snap a screen with 4000 Mhz on it, we want to check the volts at full load.

Get something to monitor temps as well. Real temp is suitable. You don't want to go above 104c on cores.

Run LinX for 10 runs and see how the temp raises and also if you get any errors. You want none.

The temps are actually closer to 62-64 across the board, after I let it run for a while..

Yours temps are fine. Obviously, we want them lower, but this chip has been designed to withstand much higher temps, so worry not, if you get in to the 80's and 90's, at some point.

Now, fire up BF3 and go score some frags [you need some testing, right?] ;)

Thank you for all your help Magic Carpet! You've been very patient with me!

I really love this forum, the community is so great. I'll be doing some reading about the rest of the Overclocking process down now that I have the initial step!

no problem at all, snap ;)

I am sure, somebody else is going to chime in and offer his/her tips on overclocking. There is lots of fun to have!

That's all hard drive friend. You can OC to 10GHz and it will still take about 10-15 seconds. You want faster load times, you buy a SSD.
