Yup.
Miami Vice: $135,000,000
Cars budget: $120,000,000
Lady in the water: $75,000,000
Serenity: $39,000,000
Snakes on a Plane: $35,000,000

It was cheaper than a lot of other recent films to make, it has that "WTF" quality about it that will encourage people to see it hopefully, and it has Samuel L Jackson in it 😀
Plus the stupid level of hype.

are people seriously excited about this movie? aside from the stupid internet cult following, everyone thinks this movie looks so horrible. it's going to make so little money.

The funny thing is, Samuel L Jackson was the one who wanted to keep the name as Snakes on a Plane. They were going to change it to something like "Pacific Flight 117", but Jackson denied.

here's the problem... its OVER HYPED now and has been for A LONG ass time.
If it would have just quietly been realeased, flopped, hit DVD it likley would have gotten a cult following.
Now the cult following came first, movie will still bomb as the only people seeing it in the theater are those that hyped it up to start and it will get little to no "2nd life" in the DVD world as the hype and campy-ness of it was lost in the pre-release hype.

Diagnosis: Flop even as a cult movie

This movie is gonna rock. I mean, look at the name people. A lot of love and care went into that. Is this coming out in IMAX? Cause if it is, I'm so there.

On a side note, there is a WoW guild on my server named "Snakes on a Zepplin", which I thought was pretty funny.

they reshot a lot of scenes due to being so close to the R rating that instead of (deleting a bunch of scenes) making it pg-13 (what they wanted) they fully went all the way into the R rating.
