it just looks a lot different than the original.. its still a sweet ass car though.. look at it here and tell me it doesnt look good.

its just different.. but now its faster, performs better, and it still one of the coolest cars in the world. And if you really dont like it--- does it matter? i dont really see anybody in here buying one anytime soon anyways.

Our opinion may not matter, but if you read the article, even the Viper folk (people with 3 and 4 Vipers) say that this thing has lost if touch and has put out the design flame of the original instead of carrying it forward.

of course viper owners are going to say this.. its hardly the same car anymore. and i guess technically it really isnt the same car anymore. the rt-10 and gts are gone now.. this is a new car.

how they kept the car with the same design for as long as they did is pretty amazing. When did the first viper come out? i think the first concept was in 89? since then it has barely changed externally at all. THe new design is differnet. People have just become so used to the old one that of course they're not going to like this. Its a big change. why is everyone afraid of change? obvoiusly they're has to be a few people who like it or they wouldnt have built it. If you really want a viper, they're are plenty of used older models floating around that i'm sure you could get.

if your gonna go bash cars.. bash the ones that really deserve it, like the SUV's and pontiac vibes.

Who is bashing the car? All I said is that it looks too generic compared to the old one. You call that BASHING? Whatever

As for your anti-SUV trip, I don't like Sentras, SE-R's, or Spec-V's. It's not like either one of our opinions matter to the people that buy them😉

🙂
okay.. fair enough.. excetp for one part
"All I said is that it looks too generic compared to the old one. "
okay.. possibly it looks a little more toned down than the original. this is by no means a generic car though. The viper is probably the only american sports / muscle car i'd ever consider buying. Its simply an amazing vehicle. the curves, the huge wheels, the sound they make, the front end, under the hood.... by no means an average car.

How many Vipers do Dodge sell annually anyways? I rarely see one driving around locally (maybe I just dont live in a rich neighborhood)... and I would assume not everyone with the money can buy one, since 500 RWD hp would be pretty hard to control...

The old Viper reeked of power and uniqueness. This model looks like another sports car. Damn, those old Vipers will be even more expensive on the used-car market now!!

<< I personally think that they neutered the looks of the car...it looks to generic to me. It's like Dodge hired Toyota designers to redesign the car🙁 Compared to the old car, this car lacks visual PUNCH IMHO.

from the article "Osamu Shikado, the 47-year-old design manager of DaimlerChrysler?s Advance Packaging Studio, penned the new car. Shikado spent 14 years at Toyota in Japan before coming to Chrysler in 1994. Among his design credits are the 1983 Toyota Corolla, the 1990 Toyota Camry..."

I actually posted that about 10 posts up or so😉

This is one awesome ride. But I don't know about you guys but the front reminds me of a honda s2000. I personally like the 2001 viper rt/10. But the 2003 model does have more torque and HP due to their 500/500/500 formula (HP/ft-lb torque/cubic inches). And I heard that the engine supposedly has more than the advertised 500hp but around 520 or 525 (the previous models only had about 450HP). Still a head turning car to say the least Now that Porsche Carrera GT looks like one bad mutha. Both these cars can probably can ride over potholes like nothing 🙂

<< Oh come now NFS4, I know you'll be one of the first in line to buy one. 😛

<< The car looks rather blah. Sure it looks OK if you compare it to Sentra and the like. But this is supposed to compete with This??? Good luck

OK, no need for the "those two cars are not competitors!"-comments, I was just making a point how sports-car should look like.

I seem to recall reading that, that sweet little dream of a car costs $300,000. I doubt the viper costs that much. Not to mention Porsche has been making sports cars for a long time.
>>

It doesn't take huge amounts of money to make car look good. Sure the new Viper looks good, but it looks like just another sports-car on the road, nothing to write home about.

How much does 911 Turbo cost? Or any 911? It looks alot better than this new Viper does. The point is that the new Viper could look alot better. It doesn't. It looks too... Ordinary. The old Viper made you think "Whoa! A Viper!" when you saw it. This new makes you think "Oh look, a sports car. Cool".
