Compared to the old one...2003 feels like it's missing...something...can't put my finger on it...
LOL at NFS...pot-shots at Toyota eh? Well you're right...Toyota does design crap and it looks like they pitched in on this beauty.

I think the car's success with depend on its performance. If it goes faster, out brakes, out corners Ferrari and Porsche people wil not care about its looks

They probably used a wind tunnel whien they designed the new car.

Its a POS style compared to the older Viper family. Damn Germans have to poison the design by turning it into a box. :disgust:

The car looks rather blah. Sure it looks OK if you compare it to Sentra and the like. But this is supposed to compete with This??? Good luck

OK, no need for the "those two cars are not competitors!"-comments, I was just making a point how sports-car should look like.

I don't like it.
As far as I'm concerned that's no viper. Sure it's weight is split 50/50 and the interior looks rathery comfy... and ofcourse it has a V10. But other than that the first thing that pops into my head when I see it is S2000.

Would I say no if someone offered me one for free? Nope. I'd take it... drive it a couple times.. then sell it and buy a Z06 or Porsche or something. Unless ofcourse it really surprised me and I could look past it's hideousness. ;)

It looks nicer than any car I'll be driving in the near future but yes, they did take the edge off of it

I think that it looks vaguely like the new Cadillac style. It's all boxy like they were trying to build a stealth bomber. I definitely liked the old one better.

Definitely not as eye-grabbing as the older style, but still quite a performer.

<< Team Viper claims the new car will go 0 to 60 mph in less than four seconds, 0 to 100 in less than 10 and do 0 to 100 to 0 in less than 13.2. >>

Exactly. It's a great looking car but it doesn't have the unique look of pure power the old Viper had.

If that were the case it would be butt ugly which it isn't.

I wish i owned four vipers. :(
2003 is not an improvement in the visual aspect

I was not aware that the GTS was being discontinued, I assumed the new roadster would sit alongside the coupe until the coupe was re-designed. But discontinuing the car that sparked my obsession should be a crime. :(

Ignoring the demise of the GTS, the SRT-10 looks good to me. I miss the curves of the original, but the new design isn't necessarily worse... Just different. The performance is definitely better, though it's nothing that light tuning to the previous generation couldn't accomplish.

Personally my ideal Viper is still a blue & white striped GTS Coupe, that will always spell Viper to me.

From the looks of it you still have to be shorter than 6 feet tall to fit in the car, so that hasn't changed.

Other than that, it does look boxy, but not terribly bad. There's just something missing, some intangible thing that the old Viper had but this one doesn't. Can't put a finger on it, though.

LOL, I was right!!! AHAHAH:D Look further down in the article:

<< Osamu Shikado, the 47-year-old design manager of DaimlerChrysler?s Advance Packaging Studio, penned the new car. Shikado spent 14 years at Toyota in Japan before coming to Chrysler in 1994. Among his design credits are the 1983 Toyota Corolla, the 1990 Toyota Camry, the 1998 Chrysler Chronos concept and the 1999 Chrysler Citadel concept. To be fair to Shikado, his Viper is stunning. It?s aggressive and has all the muscular cues of the original. But it?s different and the Viper community has much invested in the original car. Letting it go will not be easy. >>

Oh come now NFS4, I know you'll be one of the first in line to buy one. :p

I seem to recall reading that, that sweet little dream of a car costs $300,000. I doubt the viper costs that much. Not to mention Porsche has been making sports cars for a long time.

Nope, I get a Porsche 911 or an old GTS before I'd by that washed up looking thing.
