So, I couldn't exactly tell from your last post - - do you indeed have *the* 74GB 10kRPM Raptor in your new SN25P that I was referring to?

If so, now that's it's been a few days since setup, can you comment some more on the noise level? Is this, like, say, a gravel-pit-processing-plant-next-to-your-house sort of noise, or are you splitting hairs and in the grand scheme of things this is really quite a quiet setup compared to other options?

I just detest that classic hard drive "skittering" noise that haunts me wherever I go. I swear I even hear it in my freaking refrigerator. And i don't even want to talk about the computers at the office. *shudder*

Hey guys, my SN25P should be here today. I will be installing a 250Gb WD SATA HD. Does it automatically recognize a HD larger than 137Gb or will I need to do something extra to get it to recognize the HD? Thanks.

I did have *the* 74Gb 10kRPM Raptor in my Shuttle. But have since traded it for a 400Gb EIDE drive. The noise was not unbearable, just louder than I wanted it to be. "Skittering" is a decent description.

New Egg has some awesome shipping and handling, it got here in only 2 days not counting Sunday!
I counted on being able to easily transport this in my carry-on luggage due to the dimensions listed on the Newegg website. I was surprised to discover that it's much larger than stated on the New Egg website. The actual dimensions are: 8.75"W x 8.30"H x 12.50"D. I'd still have bought the SN-25P; it just would have been nice to have the correct info. Tomorrow I'll assemble my new beast and take over the world, haha.

My specs jamautosound, here they are:

Shuttle XPC Barebones System for Socket 939 AMD Athlon 64/FX CPU, Model SN25P

AMD Athlon 64 3000+, 512KB L2 Cache, Socket 939 64-bit Processor

PQI POWER Series 184-Pin 1GB DDR PC-3200

Western Digital 250GB 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive

CHAINTECH NVIDIA GeForce 6200 Video Card, 256MB DDR, 128-Bit, DVI/TV-Out, PCI-Express

Pioneer Black DVD+RW/-RW Drive

Ok, ok, I realize it's not the greatest or most powerful comp around but I saved my cash for 4 months to buy this beast; cutting out some of the frivilous luxuries in my life like food and electricity to pay for it. It's replacing my 4 year old Dell Inspiron 8000. :)

Started putting mine together this weekend, still haven't decided on which proc/vid card to put in it though.

I put in memory and drives this weekend, was a very quick and easy experience, no tools required. 2 74gig raptors and 1 180 gig deskstar, probably going to be a bit on the noisy side, heh.

Anybody know where to get this at? Me want. :)

Wouldn't that slot load drive not work very well with the Shuttle? I can see the discs getting ejected and scratched on the spring loaded drive bay.

But still a very sexy drive.

Not for my SN25P, I will be using it for my SB61G2.

By the way, I got a reply from a Plextor rep., he says the slot load Plextor will be available for purchase this month.
