Hi, this is third time my system power supply got damaged. I am not able to understand what is going on.

system specs:
AMD Athlon II X4 635
2GB Kingston DDR3 1333 ( 1 DIMM)
Gigabyte mobo 880GM-UD2H
1GB GeForce GTS 450 GDDR5
1 HDD
1 DVD/CD-RW Combo
2 USB device (mouse, keyboard)
2 fan (CPU, Chassis)

power supply:
450 Watts - Odyssey (that got burnt)

Previously I was using 550 Watts kingpower, that also got smell burnt :\.

Any help...

A good quality 350W PSU could easily power your system, but many crap PSUs cannot supply even 1/2 of their rated power.

Do yourself a huge favor and buy a quality 400W+ PSU such as an Antec Earthwatts or Neo Eco, Corsair, or Seasonic. The PSU is the most important part of your system, and often times a poor quality PSU will not die alone; you've been lucky so far but next time maybe not.

definitely, I have detached the graphics card from mobo just to be on safe side. Will get some quality PSU today.

Quit buying crap PSU's and buy a GOOD quality unit.

I don't know where you are, so it's difficult to give a recommendation with a price, but Corsair, SeaSonic, and Antec all build good, quality PSU's in the wattage range that will suit your computer.
