SMOOTHWALL >> WRT54G

I have just set up a smoothwall router to cancel all of my linksys lock-up problems, but now I was curious as to if I will be able to use the router as just a WAP , I have it connected to the 8 port switch that comes off the smoothie and have it connected to the INTERNET(WAP) portion of the connections, I have reset it, but I do not know how to actually connect to it to set it up again?

turn off all port forwarding and DHCP functions on the Linksys. Setup the wireless portion.

Im assuming your smoothie is set to a x.x.x.1 ip. set the lan Side of the linksys to x.x.x.254
and plug the wap into your switch from the lan side, not the Wan side or Internet side like you did.

Done.

I don't run the linksys firmware on my WRT54G but I believe there is an option to turn the router from "gateway" mode to "router" mode. With the router in "router" mode you can still plug your firewall into the WAN port of the WRT54G and it will work fine. If you have any problems post back and I think I can talk you through the solution. I hope this helps.
