Smoothest, quietest and most reliable floppy drive?

My Mitsumi drives me nuts with the write/format sound- is this going to be inherent with all floppies or is there a nice quiet one that's available?

Do you use floppies all that much? Are there actually files out there smaller than 1.2mb? j/k.

They all make noise, dude. Floppy's a floppy a floppy. Mitsumi/Teac/Sony....it's a floppy!!!!!

I'm sorry you feel that your floppy is sloppy, and makes noise like and old jalopy.

But you can be hoppy, and poppy your flopppy, then maybe it won't be so sloppy. 😀

You can be hoppy??😕 Poppy your floppy??🙂 Well, whatever works for you.

Seriously, though.. I'm pretty sure all floppies out there make a lot of noise.. you could always completely wrap it in sound dampening materials when you are read/writing from it.😉

I had originally put "happy" but it didn't rhyme w/floppy, so happy became hoppy. "Poppy your floppy" doesn't sound right at all....I realize that now. 😱 I mean "poppy" as in "strike" or "hit" or "pop" as in "I'm gonna pop you one!"

NFGTI, maybe your floppy is just old and the bearings are worn out. Spend $10 and buy a new one if it's that important to you. 😉

Don't they make those silent drive enclosures for floppies? Like for hard drives. I think they're only like $60, but well worth the silence you get for those 15seconds of transfering files. 🙂

I just bought a new Teac floppy (black faceplate) for my new rig and was startled by how quiet it was.
Of course for years I've only used floppies ripped out of old systems, etc so maybe all newer named brand floppies are quiet.

I'm kind of a floppy fan but I don't like noisey ones. I've tried them all and the Sony's are by far the quietest.

I don't like Sony's because they stink. I've used a few of them and the disks come out smelling really bad. It smells kind of like burning rubber (I guess).

I don't recommend Mitsumi or Panasonic if you want quite. I guess your best bet would be Teac or maybe Samsung (I've never used one).

<seinfeld> it turns out that Poppy is a little... sloppy </seinfeld>

My Panasonic is loud but I hardly ever use it, so I don't care
