Smooth Framerate Issue.

All is done at 100Hz.

I tried 85fps, just to see what it was like since I've been playing at 100fps for a while now. The difference was noticeable - omg. 85fps was so choppy.

Does anyone know a game that doesn't limit fps as steam does at 100?

hell, are you even sure you are running at 100hz? steam forces everything to 60hz by defult and it most refresh rate fixes don't do anything to stop that.

I don't think that is true, but regardless if it is or isn't, you can tell a huge difference in gameplay between 50fps and 100.

lol hatim, do you have any evedence to back that up or you pull that number clean out your rear?

rhetorical question btw. 😉

Do you have vsync enabled? Using it by itself is bad enough but using two framerate limiters together is a recipe for an absolute disaster. Also double-check that you are indeed running at 100 Hz.

lol 85fps on steam is choppy but the other day 15-17 fps in unreal2 wasnt?
LOL! Good call Snowman. 😀

I tried playing with Vsync off before and the tearing was too much, so I enabled it. I was running at 100Hz.

Well, when you switch from 100 to 85, there is a difference.

ya i can't stand vsync off either but that is your trouble, with you need to force tripple buffering because steam doesn't enable it on it's own. i havn't used a nvidia card in a while so i'm not sure how to do that and i don't think it is in the driver options but there is bound to be a tweeker around that lets you.

I'm fine without triple buffering. And my refresh rate fix is ForceWare.

If you try the refresh rates out, the response get smoother and smoother. Which must mean that you can still see as high as you notice the response get smoother.

sure you are fine without tripple buffering as long as you don't mind your framerate cutting in half every time your videocard doesn't have a new frame ready to go with the next refresh of your monitor. this is why 85fps on a 100hz refresh rate so choppy compared to 100fps on a 100hz refresh, but if you don't want to understand what is going on and how to avoid such situations, by all means don't bother looking for a way to force tripple buffering.
