Man, I was trying to order this all weekend. Gave it one last try and I was finally able to place an order.

EDIT: I was kinda expecting this to not go through, but NEC charged my CC right away.

I got a charge but not an order confirmation. NOt sure what happened. :\

It's still up. I'm tempted to get 2 for the office but I'm not sure the Intel 4600 can power 2 of these at 2560x1440. It's got 2 DP ports, so it should work, but I don't really have a use for them if it doesn't...

EDIT: Pulled the trigger, received confirmation email and order number right away. We'll see...

Looks like this deal (and others on their site) hit SlickDeals yesterday.

All orders still seem to be On Hold everywhere, mine included.

I still remember the time when I wanted a Turbo Duo for Christmas ... 'circa 1993. My mom actually called up NEC and they in fact shipped one directly from their warehouse to our home. lol, bet you couldn't have done that with Nintendo or Sega at the time!

I suspect that both of mine will be cancelled. I placed two and received complete confirmation, with order and purchase order numbers. But there's nothing in their tracking system for any of the numbers. Could just be lag since I placed the orders earlier today, but I'm guessing they got thousands of orders and didn't have nearly that many in stock. If anyone gets any updates please post here.

Someone over at [H]ardForum mentioned their card had fraudulent activity on it after ordering ...

About 12 hours after I ordered the monitor I selected I too had fraudulent activity on my card. Someone tried to make a purchase for a few thousand dollars at a school in Florida.

This got me thinking that perhaps the website is actually bogus and the only way I know how to verify is to do a site:nec.com "necdisplay.com" in Google and see if there's actually references to this website from their primary corporate website. It comes up.

Perhaps me and this other person are just oddities, hopefully so.

EDIT: I just did a domain lookup, necdisplay.com doesn't look like it has been hijacked at the register. Looks legit.

You guys have got me worried 🙂

From this end, received the confirmations, credit card charged as they indicated.

No monitor yet of course.

Thanks for sharing all the info.

Confirmed, mine are now On Hold as well on NEC's online tracking system.

When I clicked on the "On Hold" status on my order this popup came up. The charge has not shown up on my cc. This reminds me of the old days... 🙂

This number was on my confirmation email, so I called it:

800-637-5443 Internet Orders

It sounded legit. They listed the wrong model number. They had 800 orders for the two refurbished they had on hand.

Everyone should be receiving an email confirmation of the order cancellation. Credit cards should be credited by the end of the day.

I guess it is either legit or it is not. Just passing the info on.

Thanks for the info.

I work in Internet Retail, so I can imagine how this has just made their day today (of all the days, haha).

hmmm...no coupon or anything for future purchases?

Site still seems goofy to me, keeps coming up as a IP number. Two pending charges on my card, full price and $1, I notice I have about 3x of the $1 fo Google.

Not worried. Not expecting to get a monitor either.

Just got off the phone with a guy in sales. Said my order from Friday morning is going to be canceled. He told me he was about to go into meeting with legal and sales and maybe come up with something to offer customers that are having their order canceled. I ordered the 27” 1080p monitor the was $87.

The messed up part is that there were several of these "mistakes." They couldn't have listed the wrong part number on all of them, could they? Then again, it's not like NEC needs the marketing attention to get us to buy other stuff they sell...it's not like Best Buy did this... So I'm not entirely sure what to make of it, but a coupon would be a nice gesture, even if I never use it.

The one I ordered is relisted now for $144.20. It's BS if they are canceling and they have it in stock and are relisting it for about $60 more.
