The day after thanksgiving Office Depot will have the 940 for 39.99, in store price. The ink catridges alone are worth $65.

FYI, ink cartridges distributed with printers are usually smaller than those sold separately. I'm pretty sure the 940 is no exception.

Why do you think the printer sells for $40?

That is the reason I am using laser printer. They charge too much for cartridges. You are giving them the money for a laser printer each year.

Why hasn't HP switched to the separate ink tank system like Canon has? I mean $39.99 for a printer is awesome but when I have to pay the same amount just to replace one color, that is just insane, stupid, ridiculous, etc.

In the long run all HP printers with the tri-color tank is definately not hot...

Just my 2 cents.

This printer uses the same ink cartridges as my HP 930c. I just refilled both the black cartridge and the "tri-color" cartridges by myself for $2.95 for the black and $3.25 x 3 for the single color cartridge. Not a bad deal I must say, the ink looked exactly the same as the original manufacturer's ink. I didn't think the color cartridge would work since it had been sitting out of the printer for a good 7 months and must have been dried out, but it worked fine. The kits and refill ink at InkSell.com I can definately recommended, no affiliation whatsoever. So I would say that this will be quite a hot deal if it happens.

Great deal, thanks! I've been refilling my DJ 932C with an ink kit from null and that's been working out pretty good. $30 for a 16oz kit (4oz of each color, plus syringes and gloves). Still running the original cartridges from at least a year ago, LOL.

This will make for a good Christmas present. Just be sure and tell the person where to get the cheap ink refills ;)

ShowdOWN, that statement I'd think would be true for any true for any inkjet manufacturer. Canon, Epson, Lexmark, etc..
