Disposable AA Alkaline, German RedCell brand.

40 batteries in a pack, each pack has batteries individually wrapped in groups of 4.

Buy 1 get 1 free, total 80 batteries for $10.00 @ CompUSA

Batteries have a Best If Used By date of June 2006.

Nice for me, since my digicams can use AA batteries... not having recharge and cycle through my set of rechargles is great. Just grab a couple packs and go.

Big Lots has cheap batteries nowadays. The brands vary from Energizer to no name varieties. (Literally! The packaging and batteries just say "Alkaline Batteries.") I don't recall the exact prices, but I think the cheapest ones came out to 6 AA for $1. As for the quality and environmental friendliness--YMMV.

How long are these on sale?

We're having a little snow in NY today & I don't feel like brushing the snow off the car (18"+) to go out today.

a little snow and 18"+, then how many inches will be a large snow for you? 18 feet +?
Same as you, have to stay at home here.

Damn I hope these are around later in the week. Between my digital camera and my discman, I could definitely use them. Thanks for the heads up!

Why not by a bunch of rechargables, fully charge them all and even after 90 days, the NIMH's will still have more power than any alkaline (maybe with the exception of MonsterPower alkalines).
