*SMOKING HOT* ABIT IP35-e Refurb $9.99 at FRYS B&M

Went to fry's today to return some stuff and I saw a couple unopened IP35-e refurbs. I picked up one just for a backup @ 9.99 and I think they had only one more left. Couldn't believe it when I saw it! This was at the Burbank Fry's so YMMV. If this isn't hot, I don't know what is!

item # 5451239

I hate you people with Fry's electronics B&M stores! We should ban all you guys. Set up your own damned forum. You make me so jealous! I HATE YOU!

(all was said in jest of course) Now watch me cry 🙁

I think I will stop by Fry's tomorrow. Don't need anything, but it's like a Disneyland to me.

Thanks for the heads up OP. I will post my findings.

Checked couple days ago, and seen this. It is a clearenced item they did not have any in stock. I asked guy to check other Fry's stores he said the other stores only had 1-2 and one of them being a display one. They are all probably gone.

I got one from the Downers Grove store near Chicago and am posting from it now.
I picked it up Sunday. It was an open box and the box was pretty beat up, but I figured if the board had a problem I would just RMA it to Abit to get a different one.
It turns out that will not be necessary, this thing runs perfect. I have an E6300 running at 7 X 400 with 4 x 1GB of Corsair XMS2 DDR2 800. It's running Orthos now and has been for about an hour.
I also have a Gigabyte P35-DS3L and this same E6300 would not run at 7 X 400 on it. Of course I should admit that the memory on the Gigabyte was different so maybe that was the limiting factor. Anyway I understand why people like this Abit board now.

Downers Grove seemed pretty much picked clean for all clearance Intel boards, but there were some possibly decent AMD boards still on the shelves for cheap. I just don't know AMD boards too well anymore to understand what is good and what isn't.

Hmmm - very interesting. I'm heading down to Fry's early this morning on my way to work to pick up a FAR copy of Pinnacle Studio Plus 11 and maybe a couple of other odds and ends.

(Note: Pinnacle is FAR only after an upgrade rebate)

I'll drop by the MB section now to see if they have anything interesting. I already have the $50 Abit AB9 Pro motherboard from Newegg, but it's always nice to see what they have in stock.

Heh I'd stay away from the display ones... people really like to fuck with those.

Congrats pal. One hell of a find...

Isn't it an unwritten rule, that when you find a bargain like this you're supposed to buy them all and resell them on the For-Sale forums here?

That last one you left on the shelf probably went to some guy who only visits the forum named after some German guy 😀

Sheesh...

I always check the motherboard sections when I go to Fry's. Two weeks ago I picked up two, brand new ECS NFORCE4M-A (V3.0) motherboards for 10.00 ea. They both run perfect.

I managed to scavenge a few boards in GA.

At the Duluth Store, picked up a bareboard Abit K9N SLI for $10. Also got a retail box open-return(missing I/O Panel) Intel DG33FB for $50. At Milton store, I got full retail open-return MSI K9N SLI Platinum for $20. There was a MSI RS480 bareboard, but I have more AM2 boards than AM2 CPUs, so I skipped on it. Both stores still have tons of Abit I-190 (the infamous ATI mATX board). Too bad they're $50 each, and Milton store manager was being a racist pr1ck, I passed on it.

He assumed that since I was Asian, I worked for a local mom & pop shop (owned by Chinese). He repeatedly said he was tired of "You people hoarding these boards for resale". I promptly told him I wanted only two boards, one for myself and another for a buddy, to no avail. Called corporate and filed a complaint, but I'd doubt Fry's will do anything, since terrible service seems to be the norm there.

Bad news, the two open-box board I got are dead (not too surprising, knowing Fry's horrendous record on open-boxes). I'll probably RMA them and see if I can get them fixed up.

I think you are overly sensitive and wrong about the guy being racist. You are really jumping to conclusions there.

"You people hoarding these boards for resale"

That sounds like a person who is sick of people grabbing half a dozen motherboards at a time and ebaying them just to make a quick buck.
He sounds like a guy would rather see someone who really needs a deal on a board for an upgrade get what they need.
I would pretty much have to agree with that overall view of things, but he should keep his mouth shut while working. His job is to get things sold, no matter who it goes to or how many of something a person decides to buy. First come, first serve.

I had my friend check this out for me at the City of Industry store. He only found an open box for $84.95. Then he had a salesperson scan it and it was $9.90. He bought it and I talked him into keeping it and building a new computer. (He really needed it more than I did.)

DANG

Lucky you. I'm not too far from the Downers Grove store (maybe 15 minutes). I could probably push my E2200 quite a bit more on an IP35-E...oh well.

If you were in an Asian's shoes...you'd think that's racist too.

EDIT: On topic -- This deal is insane. I don't think the Fishers, IN store got any though...you Californian Fry's B&M stores have better selection than we do 🙁

Speaking of the Fishers Indiana store AKA Indianapolis, do they share pricing with any of the other Fry's consistently? I can check the ad online from the Texas and California stores and maybe even Illinois but not the Indiana store. Sometimes the price from area to area differs.
