I guess your parents don't understand that birth control is useless if not implemented properly either.

If I remember correctly over 250,000 people a year die in the U.S from second hand smoking. Not positive on this number, but I remember it being high.

That is one of the funniest things I have heard all day.

Keep it up, I'm rolling over here.

Like I said that 250,000 could be off. It could be under 100,000. I just remember hearing 250,000, but my memory on this could be off.

Don't post statistics you "just remember hearing" and expect me to take you seriously.

Now you claim it's 50k, 1/5 of your original figure, and still much higher than I believe.

Ok I just checked my numbers are a slight bit off, it is around 50,000 a year who die from second hand smoking.

You do realize that is an estimate. A loose one at that.

You do also realize that harm from ETS is totally dependent on frequency and amount. All the studies only found harm in daily high concentration exposures, such as living with or working with heavy smokers.

You are not going to get hurt from the occasional faint smell of smoke unless you have severe asthma or allergies.

You should follow the advice I gave you in my previous post.

Yet I see people outside smoking next to doors and windows all the time, and some times the smoke leakes into the buikding. This is a violation of my person space and rights. We have this law for a reason, and people need to start following it. The police also need to enforce this law more strictly.

Your personal space ends when you enter a public location.

These numbers are probably stretching it as well because they are paid the big bucks (funding) to show big numbers.

"Secondhand smoke causes approximately 3,400 lung cancer deaths and 22,700-69,600 heart disease deaths in adult."

http://www.lungusa.org/site/pp.asp?c=dvLUK9O0E&b=35422

Where did you get your numbers? From a cartoon?

Thank You For Smoking.

What the hell is a person space and rights?

Personal space and rights to toxic free zone.

Find that right in the Constitution.

I've seen it all the time not just in college at other buildings. what's even stupider, they put the sand thingys about 5-10 feet from the door. even though their's a sign that's says 20 ft from building. You'd think if they say 20 feet is the distance required they'd put the sand thing 20 feet away.. smoker will just smoke around where the sand thingy is.

Did you ever think the receptacles are placed near the door so smokers walking in will use them rather than throw their butts on the ground? A smoker walking toward an entrance is not going to go 20+ feet out of their way to trash their butt, but they are far more likely to trash it if the receptacle is along the way.

The only stupidity here comes from those who don't even try to think why things are the way they are.

Personal space and rights to toxic free zone.

Based on your whining, I could argue that simply being around you would violate my personal space and right to a toxic free zone.

Move away from smokers... that's all you have to do. Keep you whining to yourself.
