Update: 4/19/07 12:30pm Out of stock

Humm... Anyone like myself, who got their buffalo direct order out of stock or canceled, may like this deal. Second chance to get some firestix? 🙂

Directron.com has the same 2GB kit of PC2-6400 FSX800D2C-K2G sticks for even CHEAPER than buffalo direct deal a few days ago. I have no freaking clue if these are still micron d9's, but I did email buffalo and she said they ARE micron d9's at direction.

$102, no tax here for us CA peeps either. Shipping is about $8.00+

FIRESTIX!

*There is a coupon code as well for $3.00 off $100+ and another for $7 off $200+ Unfortunately I cannot post it here. *

PC6400 Firestix
FSX800D2C-K2G

5.0-5-5-X @ 2.1V

Micron D9GMH (B6-3)
Elpida AG-6E-E (some)

It looks like some are D9, and some aren't.

Nah, they all are as far as we know. This has been speculated over so much lately, its starting to get annoying... Basically there was only 1 small batch, which was an early batch, from microncenter who had elpida. That is it. All the rest are known to be micron d9's. We just arnt sure about the latest ones, but buffalo assured me the ones from direction.com are micron d9, for whatever that is worth..... They claim they are still using micron d9 chips in all the firestix so..

Is this one of those once in a long while deals? I mean, I'm planning on building an Allendale rig in June but idk if I should buy RAM now or just wait 'til June, RAM might be more expensive then. Should I just jump on this?

just called buffalo customer service, I was told all are Micron d9s now. PC8000 has better quality

So what would be the expected overclocking potential of these "lower quality" D9's?

I'm pretty new to the whole premium DDR2 deal, so I'm quite curious.

The buffalo CS told me it's between 800-1000mhz, some newegg reviews report 1000mhz 4-4-4-12. Seems the batch no. from directron is exactly same with what newegg has.

I wonder which one would provide a better OC with a C2D E4300 - the super talent ddr2 667 or these ddr2 800.. 😕

DDR2 800 with micron d9 chips are going to be better than 667 chips(even if those were micron as well).

Also I did call buffalo like 2 hours ago and they told me this direction stuff is infact micron d9.That wast he first thing I did before posting.

All DDR2 6400 memory should work in any intel ddr2 board but.. ;p They should work. Theres lots of reviews around...gooogle. 😛

Heres a random search from google on that shows the potential of firestix( or any micron d9 memory for that matter). LINK
He got 1120 mhz with 5-5-5-18 timings and 1060mhz with 4-4-4-12 timings both with 2.5v.

lol....I got out of stock on my order and I posted the damn deal. : / They must have only had a few kits in stock. bleh.

This must be a teaser sale - at least 3 times I saw only one in stock, when I checked out nothing happened and quantity was back to zero.

At least the page attracted lots of hits ...
