I just ordered 50 discs, with UPS shipping at 8 and change it runs to about 1.32/ea. I'll let you know if there are any problems. IMHO compared to MP3, minidisc rocks: higher audio quality, way cheaper media. The copy protection can be easily bypassed with a MIDIMAN CO3 unit for about 175 at www.planetminidisc.com. I am not associated with any of these sites, just a humble shopper.

Actually I don't know. I am keeping away from HISPACE since the metal sliding thingy is different from the original design, and it screwed up my original design MDS 101 deck. :-(

I have a sony '70 recorder/player portable. I love it!!! It doesn't have the newest technology (the long play stuff), but it sounds great, fits in my pocket, and is easy on batteries. Minidiscs are also way cheaper than MP3 memory. I saw a posting that minidisc sounds better than MP3, even at 256k encoding.

I like the TDKs better than the regular Sony's, BUT, believe it or not I can really hear the difference with the Sony ES discs. those are like 4 bucks a piece or some smell like that...

And are they just the disk or do they have the slide in/out individual cases? Or does it come in one 5disk carry case thing?
