I have one in my girl's rig, and it is 100% worth it at this price. Easily holds Win 7, Office 2010 and SC2 beta with 10 or 11 gigs left over. Blisteringly fast. Absolutely decimates my Intel X25-V.

I'm so tempted to get one, but I'm really looking for a 120+ gig platter of some kind.

EDIT: F**k it, in for one. RAID time :D

It's a gamble on the part of the manufacturer. They are hoping that most people will jump on the deal, and then be too lazy to do the leg work redeeming the MIR. If you google redemption rates you will see @20-60% depending on the source.

if it were just my laziness, I might jump on it (though I'm definitely in that 40-80% who don't redeem more often than not). But my experience with OCZ rebates is pretty much as bad as it comes, short of never getting them (oh I got them, after months of persistence)...it's just not worth the hassle, especially when you know going in that their redemption of the rebate is not in their best interest and they're hoping you don't get it.

Yeah, especially on OCZ, they're really pricing their stock aggressively.

60GB or bigger is what I really want, preferably at least 80GB. I think it is a good time to wait, that is unless you have some extra money. And don't think you can install this on a notebook your children are going to use, because it will be filled up with iTunes music before you can bat an eye.

Agreed. Good stuff ahead. Like SSDs that are actually affordable. :)

I paid more than this to lose 7 gb of capactiy and go up to 7200RPM on a HDD before(1999).

but I also just spent less OTD for a 1.5TB drive

that being said.

I would love for the price point to come down, so my next build can have a 60-80gb SSD for the OS partion

Yep, I had a terrible experience with OCZ rebates. I bought some DDR3 RAM a while back and, even though I filled out everything correctly and they confirmed that it arrived 4 days prior to the deadline, I still never got the MIR. And that was like a year and 2 months ago.

MIRs, in general, scare me away from deals. In particular, as member of the ShellShocker email list, I was going to buy this until I saw the "After rebate" on the newegg website. I'm glad I didn't, it sounds like a lot of you guys have had problems with OCZ rebates.

I've had some issues with them, but technically it was my fault.

but who the EF thinks its doable to require the MIR to be in the mail 7 days after you buy it.

it was black friday, I got it mid afternoon the 7th day, and couldnt even install the ram before the mail was already due out

Also rebate problems with OCZ. Had 5 purchases from them and all rebates filed correctly and on time, (which is always very, very short) never received a one. I will never buy from them again with or without rebates.

I just put 2 of these babies in RAID0. 234 MB/Sec writes, 350 MB/Sec Reads.

I recommend going to the OCZ forum to upgrade to the 1.5 firmware with TRIM and GC.
