Could someone put me down for a CompUSA reciept too? I was so close a couple days ago, but the bastards had to check stock of local Office Depots...

If someone can send me a CompUSA reciept I'll post it on a web site for everyone.

I'm interested to know if anyone is able to talk CompUSA into the pricematch - I mean the product is orphaned, they're going to have to unload it somehow... I think it just kills them to sell something once priced at $500 for $30 :)

uh, are you serious? The company is out of business. The product is discontinued. OD priced them so low to get RID of them. Nobody's stocking any more. Sorry.

my initial thoughts exactly. But someone posted a few days ago that they had "connections" with the head of some company or another and apparently (if my memory serves correct, I'm too lazy to try and find it in this mess) OD or Cygion, one of the two has alot of these things left and they can't restock them now for some reason or another, but they would eventually restock them and get rid of what they have left.

The post is somewhere in this thread, maybe I'll try to find it later. He said he'd keep us posted. Just what I remember hearing, even though i doubt its true, worth a shot.

From Drait (about midway through page 6)

----------------------------------
"For those of you who didn't get the opportunity to buy these base units and handsets a friend of mine talked to the people who didn't quite support the Cygnion products but had financial information regarding their bankruptcy. What he found out from this person (who happened to be the head financial person handling the whole issue) was that Ericcson (or ex-Cygnion, however you look at it) has a TON of stock left on all the Cygnion/CyberGenie products. Unfortunately due to the bankruptcy they can't sell any of it yet. But the guy said to call back in about a month or so and they would most likely be parting with these at whatever prices they could get (i.e. liquidation).

I'll be checking back with them in a few weeks and will update accordingly."
------------------------------------

Although he is a Junior Member (yeah like I should talk), like I said, its worth a shot.

I've seen several requests for a post of a CompUSA receipt to be used to convince CompUSA managers that, yes, pricematching has been done. Still no post. Was that just an urban legend ;-)

From what my coworker told me (he's also an Anandtech'r) they ("they" being Cygnion or Ericcson) used to sell all their products over the phone as well as in retail stores. Since their bankruptcy they haven't been able to sell any more Cygnion products. The person he was talking to didn't say that any stores would be restocked but that they would most likely be liquidating the remaining stock that they have at some point in the near future. Whether it be liquidation over the phone or maybe that guy will give us another means to obtain the products I have no idea. But as soon as I (we) find out I'll let everyone know.

this is the OD scanned receipt here

the problem is that since no OD have any left in stock, we cant convince the majority of CompUSA to pricematch. But if another CompUSA does it, maybe we can gain leverage. Please someone just post the receipt or email me, ill do it fast here from work.

I bought one of these a while back for $400 :( Anyways, these are really cool systems. I wonder why Cybergenie closed up shop so quick?

To the person who posted that they have a lot of back stock they will be releasing... How? When? Where? Thru Who? :) I'd like to get me some handsets and a unit for home too.

Peace.

Well all I can say is AMAZING!!! This thing is a techies' dream come true! It installed flawlessly under Win2K for me, was a breeze to put together and the Voice recognition thing is great! Nothing like having a sexy woman's voice to keep you company on those lonely nights...heh you can even program it to have a guy's voice if that is your thing. =o) I got three base sations so I am still looking to get some more handsets, one basestation and 10 bucks for two handsets. (The ten bucks is to offset the price of the handsets for ya...) Let me know if you have any.

Forgot to mention that I got mine at OD, so no I can't scan in a CompUSA receipt. (We don't even have CompUSA's in SC)

I have found two battery replacement options, but they are not that cheap. One sells for $15 and the other $20 (original Cygnion).
But if enough people will join, a group purchase (of 20+) will reduce the price quite much.

Anyone else have this problem with their Cybergenie:

Every couple hours it says "Synchronization lost .. automatically restarting PC application" Then it hangs forever trying to synchronize. And I have to reboot to sync it up. Sux.

No, you may want to reinstall. I had some problems when I was trying to install mine, but eventually I got everything solved (by deleting and reinstalling).

What kind of systems do all of you have your phones attached to? I'm thinking of setting up an iopener as the PC to attach the CyberGenie to. The problem is it's a 233mhz processor with 32m of RAM. I am thinking of upgrading the RAM and installing 98lite on it to lessen the memory footprint.
