Smokin' Hot 2.4 GHz Cordless Phone System: $29.22 OD B&M

Office Depot has priced the (discontinued) Cyber Genie phone system at $29.22! This unit was $399 only a short while ago - we're talking 93% off! It was $499 earlier this year!

Cyber Genie is a PC-based SOHO micro PBX. It is capable of 2 phone lines, 10 handsets (comes with one 2.4 GHz handset), full voice mail, internal calling/ conferencing / transfering, music on hold, it also accepts voice commands and will read you your email. Cyber Genie requres a PC for most of the features - the base station connects via USB to a win98/2000 machine.

The SKU is 328361.

PLEASE NOTE! Cygnion (the maker of Cyber Genie - spun off from Ericsson) is out of business - no support. (It comes with an Ericsson phone btw.)

That understood, this is a really cool gizmo for an outstanding price - it's worth it for just the 2.4 GHz phone!

The bad news: Don't expect to find any in Chicago suburbs as I pretty much wiped them out 🙂

Here is some more info on this unit:

Great Post, I'm gonna pick it up first thing tomorrow morning, sounds like a great phone and i don't mind fooling around with all its features.

I had a hard time finding any until I talked them into actually checking their little goodie room where they lock up all the cool stuff. The inventory system was often wrong.

I had a clerk get upset when it rang up so cheap and he tried to get a manager to raise the price! The manager said 'sell it for whatever it comes up as'. heh

A PBX (Private Branch eXchange) is a device that takes a certain number of outside lines and connects them to a certain number of inside phone sets. The phone set users can place calls within the system easily (usually just 3 or 4 digits) and share the outside lines for calls outside the system. This is much cheaper than running an outside line to each phone.

In that sense the Cyber Genie is a little tiny PBX - 2 outside lines and up to 10 inside extensions. Tt can make your little tiny home / office seem more like a big one (voice mail, music on hold, automated attendant, etc).

I dunno how great it is, but for $29.22 I'm willing to try! Since the company is out of business it will be tough to get additional handsets - I just bought a bunch of the full systems and plan on using all the cordless handsets with one base station.

Does anyone know if I can just use this system as a regular 2.4Ghz cordless phone? That would be cool to have an Erricsson cordless for just $29.22.

Also, if you could, please post what store you end up getting the phone at. I have a feeling it's gonna be tough to find this product at the stores.

"The bad news: Don't expect to find any in Chicago suburbs as I pretty much wiped them out "

You bastard!! I have looked all over (called all the stores in driving distance) and they are all out. Would ya be willing to part with one 😱 ?? I always miss out on these B&M deals 🙁

Yes, I am. But, I saw this on another site (I think it was APEX - but I am not sure, I look at a lot of hot deal sites 🙂 ) I have one store to go to (Addison) I hope they have one. I started calling stores around 8 or so (our time), couldn't find any in stock ( the guy from Bloomingdale store told me someone just walked out w/ three) . Bahh..... I know I will miss out on this.

What a hot deal! First thing tomorrow, I'll be at the nearest OD.

[EDIT] Can this be used solely for the purpose of a telephone without the use of a computer? (i.e., just use it like a normal 2.4GHz phone)

According to OD 24/7 customer service 1-888-463-3768 most OD stores open bright & early at 7:00 AM

I'll be calling all the local Portland, Oregon OD's in about 6.5 hours from now ...

Combine this with the $15 off $50 OD B&M coupon to get a super deal! Only possible "hitch" is that this phone is considered "discontinued" can you still use the coupon? Guess we'll find out in 6.5 hours (or sooner for you East Coast peeps).

This is some information I pulled from a reviewer's comments...

"The base station and phone operate as a standalone unit whem the PC is shut down. You can still use the system as a regular phone system but the PC has to be running to get the full system features. The handset tells you whether the system is online or in standalone mode."

So even though you don't plan on playing with all of it's features, or you can't get support, it's probably gonna be one hell of a nice regular cordless phone, at least one for $29.22!!!

Oh please oh please have some in stock tomorrow morning....

This may seem like a dumb question, but can I use this phone without all the added features. 29 bucks for a didital 2.4ghz phone is an awesome deal. I dont really need all those other features so plz let em know if its possible. Thanks

Heh...I just called the 24/7 number....those people need some coffee or coke! I sound like I woke the guy up!

At any rate, Cygnion went out of business last September. I read a post somewhere that a guy (in September) was having a hard time finding them.

I'll be surprised if any turn up in my area. But what the heck, I have the day off tomorrow!

Wow, really nice deal. Wish I'd seen this the other day, they're probably sold out by now! 🙁

Edit: I'll call them later this AM to check it out.

I tried to use the coupon and was shot down, they wanted me to bring in the card the coupon came on.

The voicemail will only work if the PC is turned on / configured.

Good Luck finding any in Atlanta. I just physically checked the Perimeter Mall area OD and none in sight. Had the manager check all area stores and none. He did claim there was one in the distribution center though.

Just managed to find one in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. they don't have any in the front or anything... just tell one of the helpful (not really) ppl to go check the back room... they'll find one eventually... i believe they have like 3 left... so they're prolly gone by now u never know...

Thank you for posting this deal !!!

On my way out the door to pick up the last two in West Virginia.
(Don't really need two, but need the extra handset <g>)

Looks like a great item, and you can't beat the price.
