Smokin Aces - Good Movie!

Okay so I have a question about the end of the movie ...

Why was that guy so important? The explanation was so quick that it kind of lost me. I realize that the main guy they are after is the son of him, but why did they want to keep him alive so bad? He was a mob guy that was supposed to be killed by the FBI, correct?

But the FBI failed in killing him, so they helped keep him alive in a new identity so that he could be a rat for the rest of his life?

Is that correct or did it just fly over my head?

I found it weird that they shot blindly out the window so much at the sniper so the bullets could land somewhere.

Aces was the kid of the mob guy. They wanted to keep him alive because the assistant director found that old file and figured out that the mob guy was actually the fbi agent they thought had turned rogue (and failed to kill).

So, they're trying to keep him alive to get all the info out of him about all the rest of the mob.

No.

Originally they were gonna use Buddy Israel as the rat so they needed to keep him alive. But then they found out Heller was Sparazza so they were going to keep him alive and hopefully turn him by sacrificing Israel

In the past the FBI thought Heller had turned on them so they tried to have him assassinated. But they failed and heller just took on the Sparazza identity and become the head boss.

Okay so wouldn't that make the FBI guy who became the head of the mob, an agent who went rogue?

I think that's the part I'm confused about.

I think he only went fully rogue after the FBI tried to kill him. So now Andy garcia's character was trying to turn him back

Okay I follow that.

So how did the FBI guy get to the head position so quickly then?

OOOOOHHH okay I gotcha. That's kind of along the lines of what I was thinking but not quite because I find it weird that he could get to the head of the mob being an older dude joining up the mob.

just watched the movie last night. it could have been better. the previews amde it look like there were gonna be lots of huge gun fights and stuff, but there were just like 2 huge fights.

as i understood it, the FBI dude, Heller, got all that surgery to become Sparazza. thats how he got to be the head boss, because he was already the head boss.

For the most part, I thought the movie sucked. It had an interesting premise...but executed poorly. The acting was decent, but a bit over the top at times and the movie seemed to grasp for "cheap thrills". The best part (***SPOILER****) by far was that they killed off Ben Afflecks character almost immediately.

i also didnt think the movie was that great, the trailers definitly made the movie seem better than what it was.

Man killing off ben afflect and then playing with his head was awesome.

Other than that it was stupid. The ending sucked, the shootouts were stupid, the assasins were lame. nothing new or original in their approach.
