What section would these be placed at Costco? I assume it would be in the canned goods section, but I've never seen them before.

I prefer my oysters live.

You mean - raw...

I could eat 50 of these raw, with some lemon juice drops and seafood sauce....

Only caviar is better than raw oysters...

Next in line to me - chilean sea bass...

Never tried oysters in a can yet....

and...like someone said, oysters works like viagra - have a wife or gf handy when you eat oysters...

technically, unless you are eating them straight off the boat, raw oysters and clam are eaten alive. dead (raw) ones go in the trash or back in the water.

Dam, u lucky prick...XD...here in hawaii there expensize as shit...so expensive a small bag cost as much as a case of beer. You know its tempting when you have to choose which one you want over the other...though you know the beer + a small bag of pork chips out weigh oysters.

XD

Last time I had like 4-5 different types from different waters (in Seattle so there's quite a selection here) - they actually tasted very different- it seemed the smaller ones had a much more distinctive flavor. There was one kind that was pretty big and did not taste all that great at all. A friend of mine worked at an oyster bar and he really developed a palate for them - knows all the different types/tastes etc.

I'm huge fan of raw oysters and you're completely correct different kinds of oysters all taste different. I live in the Southeast so most of the raw oysters I eat come from the Gulf. I always buy it by the box (40lbs) when I'm down near Apalachicola, Florida. Blue points are harder to find and little more pricey where I am. But my absolute favorite raw oysters are pacific oysters or Japanese oysters. It's smaller but more flavorful with stronger oyster taste. I absolutely love the stuff but I don't know any local place that sells it. My preference is raw oysters>grilled>fried but these smoked oysters are really tasty and great snack. I can tell these are pacific oysters as it's smaller but plump. Light smoke adds nice touch and I love anything packed in olive oil.

I haven't seen these at Costco. But if Costco carries it, it will be in the same section as other canned fish products like sardines and anchovies. There was big recall with canned oysters from South Korea last year so no stores carried any oysters from Korea for the past year. All you found was oysters from China. And there's no way I'm eating any food, especially oysters from China. I read Trader Joe's carried this last year for $2.29/can before the recall ban. Now it's restocked at $2.69/can. I'm guessing the 40 cent price increase is for additional safety checks and regulation. At least I hope so.
