Smoked my first cigar last night... now I'm as hoarse as Helen Thomas!

Went to an upscale club and concert last night downtown and decided to have my first cigar (been thinking of trying one for a year now). Did pretty well with it, though I'm now realizing I think my voice is hoarse today from the cigar, not shouting with the crowd.

To make matters worse, after waiting months, this morning of all days I had a phone interview for a job I'm really trying to get. I apologized for my voice right off the bat (on a scale of one to ten, it's an eight- really not too terrible, but noticeably 'off'), though it must not have been much of an issue if I was able to snag a second interview in person next Monday morning. Will my voice return to normal by then? Anything I should drink in the meantime? Help me ATOT! :p

did you inhale? cuz that's just not right when it comes to cigars. and shouting with a crowd can drain your voice easily.

"I did not inhale." :p

No, I think I did mistakenly once. The guy helping me at first told me I had to suck in while lighting it or else it wouldn't 'catch'. So how am I supposed to not inhale if I'm doing that? I still don't understand the concept very well- luckly this isn't anything I'm planning on taking up as a hobby. I exhaled a small amount of smoke two or three times.

I can't get a hoarse voice from a cigar? That's good news if so... it was a very loud venue and I was shouting pretty good for at least a few hours.

Even though I don't have a profile posted, that's a pretty brazen assumption... I don't think a twelve year old boy could have gotten into a 21-and-up club where they validate your ID five times before you actually get inside. I'm 25, but thanks for that gem of a suggestion.

Well you can
But if you were yelling for hours that's the reason.

Makes sense. Just introduced a new catalyst with unknown results into my system for the first time, so I wasn't sure. I guess it's going to take a helluva lot more cigars to actually have this effect, and probably long-term by that point.

Thanks for the info, guys.

you think thats bad, wait until your smokin pot and you begin coughing for like 5 minutes.

or, when your first time smoking in a longgg time is right before your work shift... that was fun.
