Smiting the IE6 bloatware into the Negative Material Plane!

Anybody know how to remove IE6 from WinXP Pro?

I know IEradicator can remove it from Win9x and Win2k1 sr1, but it won't work for 2ksr2 or WinXP.

😛 I can't do the style and theming that I like with win2k or 9x. And linux does not have the software/hardware/gaming support that I want.

And I hate IE, everytime I run Ad-Aware, it finds Spyware in the IE cache folder. Not to mention its repeated crashes. I've never had a problem with Opera or Mozilla 0.9.9. 🙂

There has to be a way to get rid of it in XP.

Just go into privacy menu and disable all cookies that should take care of what I assume to be doubleclick cookies that ad-aware finds.

Bateluer - I feel your pain guy! I too hate IE (and all the M$ integration that is forced down our throats just to use an OS). I always 98-lited or used IEradicator to get rid of it. (This does work for Win2000 sp2 BTW, you just have to disable SFC with a simple little resource hack of one file).

One way around this with XP is to NOT USE THE DEMON IE AT ALL! The only time I use it is to go to M$ updates (because my other browser doesn't work there). I use Opera 6 about 99.9% of the time. It's the best browser I've ever used and it's not riddled with all the security problems that IE has.

I think that's the best we can do for now. The 98lite/IEradicator guy (Shane Brooks) has vanished so it looks like no further help will be forthcoming from him.

Yeah, I use Opera 6.01 99.9% of the time time too, and I use Mozilla for supposedly IE only sites.

I guess I will have to settle for removing all links to IE.

Edit - I use XP over 2k because of the boot times, its D3D/OGL performance is better than 2K and I can do more theming.
