Smiley Request

GasX

Lifer
Way back when, I succesfully initiated a request for this smiley:
rolleye.gif

I would like to add another smiley to the list: drool

I think it will be well used - especially in car threads... 😀

I don't think we're going to go down the "animated icon" route to far.

A) its cheesy and is a bit childish
B) they consume larger amounts of bandwidth

The roll eyes was done and was considered ok, anything else we decide we'll do but nothing is planned for a bit. FuseTalk 4 will bring a raft of new Emoticons though.

Zuni - thanks for the response. It actually doesn't need to be animated. The last frame gets the point across quite well.

😀

Fair enough, though I wouldn't mind getting one perhaps, more tastefully done.

How so? Something to do with compression? Because, based on the file properties, the rolleyes gif is much smaller than most of the others.

Looking forward to the numerous "bring back teh old smilies!!!!!11" threads.🙂 The current emoticons have been my favorite.

Deadhead smiley too🙂
Oh yeah, you can use this link on my site - it supports direct linking.

The differences in filesize may have to do with the images themselves; the 😎 emoticon is small because it's a solid yellow, not shaded like the others. As for the animated ones, they probably use a sequence that only animates specific parts of the image, like the eyes in
rolleye.gif
. It can also depend on the program used; I just converted an image to GIF using Microsoft Photo Editor and MSPaint - the filesizes were different (153,653bytes vs 157,554bytes), and the images looked different.

Wow, great list of smileys. How long did it take you to create and/or collect all of those? :Q

BTW, I think in the one where it has the two people arguing, that you should put the texts "vi" and "emacs" in the text balloons. 😉
