Well someone is ignoring history and it’s probably the guy who isn’t aware that Elon grew up in an apartheid, he isn’t aware that Elon has supported far right groups in Germany, he’s not aware of Elon not only penning one of largest social media sites but who also has a history of unbanning nazis and retweeting their posts. But most importantly he seems to be completely unaware that Elon is the worried richest person and just bought his way into the presidency of a man who is malleable that he thinks whatever the last person to talk to him thinks. So yeah, someone definitely is ignoring history.
Well, you said it much more politely than I was going to, but being as queer people were one of the first groups targeted last time just as they are right now, I'm a little touchy on the subject.

No one is ignoring history except for those trying to defend Musk.

It's not a "haha, silly goose should have known better" situation. Based on Musk's history, that just translates to: "he should hide his Nazi proclivities better."
Your math makes no sense.

Ex:

He farted in public.

Farting is passing gas.

You are defending him by explaining what a fart is. You must be a National Socialist in his 100s!

And his father also had Nazi sympathies. But Musks antics are just that.

Honest question: do you think this action was a mistake, or that it was intentional?
Probably a mixture of both. He explained his gesture meant his heart goes out to the crowd. Maybe he was using it as cover.

It would be surprising if he did it again in the future. Or would it?

If you extrapolate from his Twitter engagement with neo nazi supremacy stuff then this is exactly in line with what you'd expect. No I dont think Ill excuse him.

If real Nazis, Germans, German government and German law enforcement say it was why do you doubt it? Weren't you one of the ones quick to claim college campuses were anti Semitic?

Seen in Issaquah, WA today (near Seattle, I'd probably be willing to include it in the metro area, if at the outskirts)

Edit: it's already been painted over, because that's how we roll. Fuck Nazis and Nazi collaborators.

If you suspect it's a 'mixture of both', then you expect that he partially did it intentionally.. so why are you giving a self professed mostly-nazi the benefit of the doubt? Why is he anything other than a complete piece of shit?

I never took any position on that subject. But since you are asking, the students had a right to protest the slaughter of Palestinian civilians but not to the point of violence.

You know, speaking in front of a crowd with your speech referencing the 14 words just makes you want to throw your hand in the air like Hitler. No big deal, right? He just got caught up in the moment.

I missed that bit - what was his reference to "the 14 words"? (genuine question, not doubting that it happened).

I don't know that I'm really in on this one, but I suppose it is more dogwhistly (especially when combined with the salute): "It is thanks to you that the future of civilization is assured".

Yeah, it's pretty much that bit. When you look at it in the context of who he directly interacts with online, freaking out about low birth rates for white people in the US, his hitching a wagon the party of hate, and two Nazi salutes, it seems like a puzzle piece that fits.

I have no trouble believing that Musk is a Nazi, but that interpretation of his words seems like a stretch to me.

The hyperbolic rhetoric style is reminiscent of the way dictators often communicate, but the similarity stops there IMO.

Just to throw my 2c on the pile:

It was obviously a dog whistle to the white supremecist crowd, Elon has been playing this game for a good long while now.

I obviously cannot know what's in his mind, but part of me legitimately thinks he's just doing it out of pure personal spectacle and entertainment. Dude is the richest guy on earth, how do you get your jollies off then? For Elon it's being a massive raging douche, manipulating idiots, arguing in bad faith when called out, etc etc etc.

He's obviously not a morally centered person based on what we know about him, so if him getting his rocks off ends up in people getting hurt, I seriously doubt he would actually care.
