SMC Barricade Print Server setup

MustISO

Lifer
I have the SMC7004ABR router with the build in print server. I'm running Windows 2000 Pro on all of my machines. I connected my parallel cable to the router and to my printer but I can't add the printer in Windows. According to the manual, under Windows 2000 you just enter the IP address of the router when adding the printer. I tried that and I get a message that a printer was not found. Any ideas?

I clicked on the link and Acrobat opens but no document is displayed. I looked around for some more info but nothing I have tried (from their site) seems to work. I added a new TCP/IP port for the printer but I just get errors when I try to print anything.

My main box stays on 24/7. I found it easier to just share the printer through the network rather than hook it up to my ABWR. It works flawlessly. Do you leave your main rig on all the time?

I may just have to share through my main PC. It's not the option I wanted but I can't seem to get it to work. Stuff like this I usually figure out after a little experimentation. I tried all kinds of things and couldn't get it working. The manual says Win2k already has a print server client installed. How would I know if it is installed?

I have an SMC 7004BR (not ABR) but I had to download and install a Windows 2000 client from SMC to use the print server. I use the same client software on my XP Pro box, as well. The instructions for adding a printer using the IP address method that SMC gives on their site would not work for me.

Once I installed the software, it works perfectly.
