It' now $79.99 w/ $25 rebate unless I'm mising something somewhere!

You're missing the fact (mentioned in the thread) that the $50 rebate expired May 1. :(

These SOHO routers have a life of about 3-4 years tops, having worked at Smc myself

Just received my SMC from online order. Does any know if the order confirmation showing the price, qualifies as the receipt to be mailed in for the rebate?? Thanks

My SMC2804WBR already seems to be acting up, even with the latest f/w. The bottom metal plate gets really warm, bordering on hot, and my connection dies. The indicator lights continue working but my connection is dead. I have to disconnect the power to the router for 10 seconds and plug it back in, then all is well until the next time. This has been happening once and sometimes twice per day now.

Or maybe it is just a coincidence that the bottom gets hot, which I only notice when I handle the router to cycle the power. I hope it dies before the warranty expires.

I'm on my third SMC. This one is also the SMC2804WBR. It has started acting up. It loses the
connection about once a day for wired and wireless. I upgraded to latest firmware but the problem
persists. Only way to start it back up is to unplug it and let it reset and it will again work for a day
or two. I think you are right about these only lasting a year.

Just call tech support and explain what is happening. I would bet they will replace it -- getting hot is no good.
