Does anyone know how to setup a SMC7004ABR Broadband router to allow my DNS server to work behind the firewall. I have configured the "Virtual Server" to open port 53 and forward it to the internal ip address of my dns server. This however, does not work. Ironically, the same configuration for port 80, my webserver, works fine......any ideas or experience? 😕
 
Can you telnet into port 53 on your nameserver from your internal network? This will quickly verify if that machine is at least accepting connections on port 53. Next try to telnet into port 53 from outside your network and see if you get the same result. You should get the same result...

Try it and that will tell you where to go next.
