I can pretty much say the same thing about a lot of bands from the past... too bad I can't say the same thing about recent bands, any of them.

Your right man, IT IS!!

I was never into the pumpkins, and then I bought The Infinite Sadness and I thought it was good. On a whim I got the Siamese dreams on eBay. Its their best CD and I was floored at how great it was.

nope. billy's doing some solo stuff.

i enjoy all of their stuff. i'm a pretty rabid fan, but i've distanced myself enough from their work to realize what's really good (SD to adore, parts of gish, a few songs from machina) from what's not so good (most of machina and machina ii). good to see that there are AT folks who enjoy the pumpkins.

Smashing Pumpkins sucks.

You like any music that came out after 1978?

Yeah, just got the latest by Ian Anderson: "Rupi's Dance".

Monte Montgomery
Mourning Widows
AC/DC
Aerosmith
Extreme
Van Halen
Megadeath
Metallica
etc...

bwahahaha. too old to listen to the good stuff, too young to listen to the good stuff. didn't your momma tell you the 80's make baby jesus cry? ;) seriously though, it's all about the 70's album-rock, like queen and boston. and then the music that was influenced by it, like.... smashing pumpkins! and jane's addiciton, etc.

siamese dream is literally the best album ever made. it has but one flaw: too much mid-bass in the master. someone needed to lay off the 120 Hz boost on the guitars. but yeah, i've got it on CD and vinyl. the records are from terrible pressing but if you want to listen to this album loud, it's the way to go because it just sounds better and better the louder you crank it. also, it's in orange marble vinyl, which will amaze your friends and make you the hit at parties.

hamsuplo, yeah, chamberlain is one of the best drummers ever. my drummer hates the pumpkins but even he will admit that chamberlain is next to god. soooo solid. the crazy thing is how involved it is, but it's so effortless that you don't even notice. for one thing, he keeps time with the hi-hat pretty much all the time, which is hard as hell when you've got 3 other limbs doing syncopated stuff. for another, lots of what seems like drum rolls he actually does with one hand, while the other is playing beats on the cymbals. he's also tasteful and doesn't overplay the cymbals like most rock drummers. then when they play live, he does all the above... twice as fast.

fool enough to almost be it
cool enough to not quite see it
doomed
pick your pocket full of sorrow
run away with me tomorrow

i frickin love the smashing pumpkins.

You know, I'm just now beginning to appreciate the subtle nuances of GnR's 'Spaghetti Incident'...that album is a bonafide classic!

no way just a bunch of remakes... none of those songs were new, did you know?

i'm a die hard GnR fan don't get me wrong....

I like it. Why don't you name some bands that aren't crappy then?

agreed, zwan was pretty weak, though i did like "honestly". Melissa Auf der Maur's band is just awful though, i'm really ashamed

I just meant it doesn't sound played out after my 100th time listening to it (unlike some other albums).

I liked "Honestly" from Zwan, it's a fun song to listen to. The bassist, Paz is a hottie :D

In a good way, I suppose"

i thought the zwan album was really good but it took a number of listens to fully appreciate. it's still not the pumpkins, but it had it's moments. i hated the production though.
