So I accidentally pushed in the plastic tweeter on my speaker and cannot figure out a way to undo it.

The music still sounds pretty ok, though. What should sound funny because of this?

You mean the small domed dust cap in the center of the tweeter?

It won't affect much unless it is severely pushed in.

Over time, it may develop cracks where the cap is "bent". Then those open cracks will buzz. Until then, ENJOY1!!

yes. If it bugs you , take a piece of scotch tape, , gently press the sticky sideonto the dent and then carefully pull out the dent. if the tape won't release without tearing, just cut the flap off with a sharp knife, razor blade, xacto knife.....

Really that is just a dust cover? The plastic dome?

nope, on a tweeter that is actually the diaphram that makes sound.

If you dented your tweeter it greatly impacts the sound and performance of the tweeter. The tape idea works well.

Depends on the type of device being called a tweeter.
You may be right, but without :camera:'s we are all just speculating on what "it" is.

Stupidity or sarcasm? The 'dust cap' is what makes the sound.

A punched in tweeter would certainly affect sound propagation in some way. There's a good reason why they are dome shaped.

On-axis the damaged might not be too bad, off-axis it might be more noticeable. It's certainly worthwhile trying to get it back out. If it was a metal dome tweeter that would have been the end of it, so it could have been worse :), but textiles are the best bet for wondering fingers.

A vacuum cleaner would probably work, failing tape.

unless its one of those super expensive luxurious speakers, you might be able to find some replacement if you shop around.
One of my tweters got destroyed (the magnet fell off) by the USPS too.. I was lucky enough to find new ones and now they work just fine :)

WOW!

You can't be serious???!!!!

Most tweeters in distortion box speakers are a dome tweeter. That dome being what makes sound, specifically the wave that makes sound. It is NOT a dust cap.

As far as getting a replacement, if you call up the maker of your speaker they'll sell or give you a tweeter.
