SMART option disables cpu fan!

I have a Zalman 7000AlCu CPU with ECS nForce3-A mobo and AMD Athlon 3200+. I went to my BIOS yesterday and enabled the S.M.A.R.T option for the cpu fan. But as soon as I rebooted, the cpu fan completely died! Anyone have ideas about why this is. I know the running temperature of my cpu (according to Speedfan/Everest) about 70C (90 - 93F).

srry, it's 30c (90-93F). I got the 70c from Heatsink guide telling what the max temp should be for an Athlon 64.

It stopped it because the CPU temp is so low, all or most modern boards are able to adjust the speed of the CPU fan based temp. With Cool n' Quiet you might be able to run completely passive at idle.

Smart option probably disables the fan when cpu temps are low,it will probably start back up when your cpu reaches a certain temp deternined in the bios.

To find out how it actualy works i suggest you read your manual.

Yeah, with a CPU temp that low, cool and quiet can turn off the fan. The fan should kick back in once you put the CPU under load. If you don't like it doing that, you can disable cool and quiet.
