I had this working and I'm really happy with the results. Before this I was using Volcano 11@4600rpm at 39C idle, 46 full load. I have just intalled the silent boost w/Smart fan II@2600rpm and I'm in 37C idle!! I'm using coolermaster premium thermal compound. At last Thermaltake made things as they should. I'll post full load results in a moment!!

UPDATE: now idle at 32C (diode)

I get 45C full load, wich means I'm getting more or less the same results as with the Volcano 11 but @ half the rpms in the fan.

I forgot to say I'm running barton 2500@2800 1.75V.

What are your results with SLK-800+Smart fan II? Case temp is 26-28C.

SLK-800 and Smart Case Fan II* - Barton 2500/333 @ 3200/400, case temp 28-29C: 41C idle, 46C load (using RadioShack heatsink compound)

*Note: thermal sensor in use, placed under CPU. Fan often runs < 3300rpm.

I know, I just took it off and put it in the silent boost HS ;)

nice work! I think this heatsink is better than the SLK-800

So, wait. Let me get this straight. You're using the Silent Boost's HSF, but removed the SmartFan II from the Volcano 11 and put that on the Silent Boost HSF, right? Isn't the SilentBoost HSF designed to get better airflow at low RPM's anyways?

yeah but the silent boost heatsink is better than that cheap Volcano 11 sink

I don't understand how people with 2500's have all this cooling and still run warm. I'm stock hsf, stock voltage 2500@3200 26case/32idle/37load. I was thinking of getting a tt11 volcano but I disabled the nforce2 soundstorm and it brought me down like 9C

That may is because I'm running at higher voltage.
Edit: tomorrow I'll buy a ducting mod from TT, I'll post my results with that.

I forgot, what program are you using to measure the temp? You may are seeing FSB heat results.

though it was only up for awhile i had a smart case fan 2 on an slk-800a. I have a 2500@3400. i had it running 195x12.5 just for the heck of it for awhile. then changd it up to 220x11. I got about 42c idle and 48 load with this settup. Oh and i had it at 1.80 volts.

SK7 for $15.99 is still a better deal than the Silent boost.:)

Sure I'll post a pic in the afternoon, but where and how do I post it?
The ducting mod costed me $3 in a local shop ;) It makes my CPU take the cold air that enters fron the side fan and the front 5 1/4 2 little fans, and let's it scape from radeon's hot air.

Thanks for your interest :)
