Smallville, at long last - an excellent installment!

Outside of the premiere, most episodes have been mediocre, and occassionally flirting with good. Week after week, the same tired meteor rocks cause problems, Clark is a wet noodle plot line. Not last night!

Finally, some real story, real writing, real acting and a real message. This episode was what this show could be, and SHOUD be. Powerful, entertaining and creative. Plus, Clark finally actually nails a bad guy. Love the speeding bowling ball.🙂

i just watched it, pretty good episode, it seemed like a lot of violence in this episode(not that i care but if people are getting blown away with shotguns lets see some lana too like the episode a few weeks ago)

The only thing you saw of that girl was her head. The rest was a body double. Some skinny, cute child does not make a show.

Great episode!

On a side note, I loved the cartoon because Clark's enemies were tough enough to not need kryptonite. C'mon WB, pit Clark against a bad guy with some balls. Then you won't need "the same tired meteor rocks cause problems, Clark is a wet noodle plot line" to give Clark an unfair disadvantage.

<< Is this about the episode with the kid who can read minds? I MISSED IT!!! :| >>

I missed it too... started watching 24 after too many Smallville repeats. Anyone care to describe last night's plot?

Young boy, probably ten or so, can read minds. His Mom is dead, so he's with his evil step father and his <also evil> new wife. They are forcing him to use his power to do crime. Example; pawn shop owner opening safe, kid gets combination from his mind, slimeball abusers rob and kill owner. Kid makes a run for it.

Clarks Mom accidentally hits him as he's running. The kid refuses to reveal any info and pretends to have lost his memory. While waiting for CPS, he stays with the Kents at their house. The only mind he cannot read is Clarks, so early on the kid realizes they have something in common. Great older brother/younger brother thing develops between he and Clark.

The scenes where he's reading minds, and the look on his face - his reactions, extremely well done. He reads Mrs. Kent's mind and discovers Clark's origins and finds the space ship. The scene between he and Clark in the storage shed when Clark finds him there is very powerful.

He is a comic book lover, something called ".....Angel". (Sorry, can't remember the whole name). This is a character from another planet who protects others (of course). There's one panel in the comic book where the hero says "You're safe now", that is played out in a scene where Clark rips a hole in a garbage truck to save the kid from being crushed.

Kid even reads Lana's mind and knows how she feels about Clark, but Clark refuses the offer to find out. Also warns Clark about Lex. And, now Clark has someone who shares his secret outside of his family.

I also liked the fact that they didn't try to explain the kid's power. It was just there.

There's a lot more, including some excellent sub-plot material involving Lex and his father.

I think all the smallville episodes are well done. If you watch them with more than a casual viewer you will see lots of subtile things. Some are just there as fillers others show characters in a different light.
In the pilot after clark rescues lex, he walks away with his dad with a red blanket coming out from under his jacket, representing his red cape.

Also next season, Bruce Wayne will be making an apperance in Smallville.

Yes, yes it was a very good episode. I think Clark should ask Chloe to prom as well. 😉 You know he won't go with Lana.

BTW, my favorite part was the bowling ball. We were all cheering, it was so funny.

Ha ha. Now that I think of it, Smallville's got a very cool premise

Yea it was pretty good. Like already stated, lotsa violence though

Russ - you forgot the part about Chloe - that's all going to boil over at the end of the season

ROAR!!!!
The one time I miss the show, they have a new one! >_<
