Smallest but best quality Video format

I need to adjust a video clip to load faster.

It's currently a 10mb Quicktime clip. Is there anyway to make that smaller but maintain as much quality of the video file as possible?

QT doesn't preload the entire file, does it?

Anyway, DiVX is good....
