Say it in every thread like this: Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.

I have my guy for four years now and it's the sweetest dog I have ever owned. This breeds love kids and there's not a malicious bone in their body. My dog has never growled at anyone, ever. I can even take food right out of his mouth and he'll not be mean. I don't know what it is with this breed but they are the sweetest dogs on the planet.

The neighbor's Pekingese tried to attack my two 80lb dogs yesterday while I was walking them. She got loose and came after mine jumping up and biting my shepherd in the face. He just looked at me like WTF? The lady that owns the pekingnese came running out freaking out and grabbed her. I hate that little shit of a dog.

Anyway its up to you to make your small dog well behaved. If you want one thats already well behaved hit petfinder.com and find a rescue or just go to the pound and see if you can find one and quit worrying so much about what the breed it.

My vote would be a Beagle. They do have a really loud bark though...but can be trained to control it to a reasonable degree.

They are unbelievably sweet to kids, people, other dogs, and other animals. They are also very loving and loyal. Can be a bit stubborn at times...but that is what training is for.

LOL...I just noticed that you said you already owned a beagle...that just spent his time outside. Get a female 13" and bring her inside.

I agree with this. My friends mom has a CKC spaniel - it is one of the friendliest dogs I've been around.
And as I mentioned before in this thread, Japanese Chins, aka Japanese Spaniels are also very well mannered and very friendly.
