Small Village vs. Jehovah's Witnesses' Solicitations

i like the law, but how do you get around the trick o treaters?

Although the Court's arguments centered Tuesday on religious advocacy, the rights of other door-to-door visitors -- even trick-or-treaters -- were considered by the justices. They are expected to rule by late June.

that seems like a stickler.

I don't believe the witnesses will win, as this is not specifically directed at a religios group it passes the lemon test and does not violate the establishment clause imo, this is only to protect people's privacy, nothing more nothing less, I don't like anyone coming door to door asking me to do things, girl scouts jehovas etc. I like this law.

I WOULD DEFINITELY SUPPORT THAT LAW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just had a Jehovah's Witness come by. :|

I'm a nice guy so I don't like being abrasive. Needless to say the conversation at the door went on for a while.

I also hate those kids who sell magazines and candy with their fake sob stories. FSCK YOUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!!!!

I'll bet on the witnesses. 🙂

They have the very best lawyers in this field and have been responsible for more Supreme Court reversals than any other group in their pursuit of expression of "Freedom of Religion". They have the Bill of Rights on their side.

Here is an idea........ put the no soliciting sign on the gate......... and 6 feet afterwards put up a sign that all trespassers will be shot 😉

Cheers,
Aquaman

I don't quite see how the Bill of Rights would be on their side.
Could you explain that a little further for me?

haha, then start cleaning a gun in front of them when you answer the door.

Do a little research . . . the JWs have won all similar cases in the Supreme Court.

The Bill of Rights guarantees freedom of expression and freedom to practice own's religion. This town is prohibiting this under the guise of "soliciting" laws.

During summer vacation in high school, a friend of mine used to brush up his debate skills by letting in Jehovah's Witnesses and debate with them. I think they came to his home like 4-5 days in a row.
