America needs more "take no crap" Sheriffs like this. I like the guy and he's a dying breed.

I think you need to adjust the prescription of your idiot glasses.

This guy is costing the State and County millions of dollars for his "take no crap" shenanigans.

http://azcapitoltimes.com/news/2012/12/20/arpaio-support-declines-even-in-some-republican-strongholds/

Expecting the residents of the inner city of Phoenix to elect someone tough on crime is tantamount to expecting criminals to vote themselves into jail. Correlated with income, the people who matter still overwhelmingly support Sheriff Joe.

Oh, so you changed it to "the people who matter" when you realized that what you said was wrong.

His popularity has steadily declined with every passing year. He's unlikely to survive another election, despite the support of all the people who matter.

Sheriff Arpaio makes me think of how it must feel to step on a fresh steaming hyena turd.

'Nuff said.

Yes, that's what I did.

There's no way you truly thought that through before posting. Un-fucking-believable!

No I did think it through. I wish we would have harsher conditions in jails all across the country. These people dont need to be coddled. I wish we could bring back chain gangs. I visited Singapore and Malaysia saw the results of strict discipline and administration of corporal punishment. They allow caning to a prisoner's bare buttocks. If time served doesnt teach some of these knuckleheads, then a bunch of scars across the ass cheeks and feeling extreme pain maybe will. IMO Singapore was one of the safest cities I ever visited and crime rates are one of the lowest in the world.

Asking me to give a fuck about inmates is like asking me to have compassion for lice or tapeworms. These people got into jail on their own accord and for actions deserving incarceration. I honestly dont care and have zero sympathy. We need more like Joe Arpaio to send a clear deterrence to first time and repeat offenders. This jail wont be a paradise where you can have three meals a day and a cot. Keep your ass out of the prison system and you wont have anything to worry about. it is really that simple. You wanna fuck around in Arizona, knowing what type of jail is run there? Well you knew that beforehand and you did the crime knowingly so now you can sleep in the bed you made. I would vote for him if I could but I dont live in his jurisdiction

So did you post this because you aren't smart enough to understand what jail is about and wanted to let everyone know that you should be ignored in the future?

Yep, looks like you did. So not only are you really stupid, you are a strict authoritarian dumbfuck as well.

In Saudi Arabia they chop people's heads off. I bet that means they have even lower crime.

Oh wait.

I would strongly suggest you educate yourself about this issue. Severity of punishment means little as to the crime rate, it is probability of being caught that matters much more.

This is just gross revenge torture fantasy you're indulging in. It's pretty gross.

Putting serious ethical and efficacy issues aside this would surely be found to violate the 8th Amendment by any court.

He's also a hypocrite, having admitted to tax fraud and attempting to defraud his HOA.

I don't know if he's actually stupid, but he is dishonest, insecure, and woefully disconnected from the real world thanks to decades of being sheltered and spoiled by his daddy. He's basically a victim of terrible parenting, not unlike some of the petty criminals he wishes to see abused and tortured. But I doubt he's capable of comprehending the irony.

What about those people who are incarcerated pending trial?

Innocent until proven guilty means nothing to you?
Sheriffs don't set bail, or determine who is held pre-trial. As far as conditions, I think there's a point to be made that jail should be markedly unpleasant, so that it's not just a place where one sometimes lives but a place one consciously tries to avoid living in the future.
