I almost always eat full, balanced nutritional meals that I make myself. BUT, we all run into those unexpected times when we are hard pressed to make anything, on the run, etc etc and we need that quick meal. I try to not eat shit when that time comes around. I know alot of people that eat protein bars, etc, but I cant even get past the taste, would rather eat nuclear waste.

So, I do remember a few years ago I used to have clif bars for quick meals. There were a few flavors that were actually very delicious, and ingredient wise, was not that terrible. I wasnt' looking for a protein bar, I was looking for a tasty, edible meal on the go when real food and veggies/fruits were not around.

amazon has a deal and I was going to buy two boxes for those "in case times" when I need a quick meal. LINK

any opinions on these, or similar bars that were good and somewhat normal ingredients? I tried luna bars and another brand (forget), but both were basically sugar bars that I could not eat without puking :)

opinions please

I'm a big fan of Clif and Luna bars based on taste alone. Nutritionally there's probably better, but I think the two I mentioned taste awesome.

Clif bars are super tasty, I've never had a Luna. I think they have good deals on them at costco and walmart actually.

Clif Bars are great, and I think they're supposed to have less preservatives and bad stuff in them than other bars. Plus a large number of their flavors are surprisingly good, despite looking like cow patties :D

I've always liked the Balance bars, yogurt flavor. It's in a light blue wrapping. It tastes really good, so it's probably bad for me though :(

I prefer Clif Builder bars...all organic, and no real added sugar (important to me being a diabetic) and great nutrition. I also use (I know it sounds weird) South Beach Diet bars for the same reason as Clif. I really try to avoid added sugar.

well, just ordered a box of carrot cake (my fav) and banana bread (never tried). They have a deal going on with $10 off $39 purchase at amazon:

Save an extra $10 instantly when you spend $39 or more on select Balance, Clif, Larabar, Luna, Odwalla, and PowerBar. Enter code JUNEBAR8

picked up 48 bars for $39.xx tax free/shipped two day for some decent bars. My 2nd favorite was spiced pumpkin, but they only have that flavor in the winter.

One of these bars and a glass of milk is a good quick meal that I can stomach :)

That's a good deal. Anything less than $1 a bar is great.

Here's what I've learned:

For a "real" bar, I get those Big100 bars. Cookie dough. Pretty good. 360 calories, only 80 from fat, and like 25 grams of protein. Not much sugar, I believe.

For something smaller, I love the Zone perfect bars (just about any flavor, although I think I like Fudge Graham the best). They're only 14 grams of protein, and 7 grams of fat (and I think 13g of sugar or something) but they're a third of the price. I wait for them to be 10 for $10 (or, you know $1 a pop) and they usually give you a coupon with your purchase (I've had save $1 on 5, which is the best, but also save $1.50 on 10 or $2 on $15).

Getting 5 of those for $4 is good. CostCo just now sells them too, for $18, I believe, for two 12 packs.

I like Clif and EAS bars. I tried a bunch of different kinds. There are also nutritional shakes that you can get.

I can't remember if it is Lara or Luna, but one of them is from Clif and made for women.

Call me a woman then I guess, but the Luna bars I've tried have been great.
