I have 8 computers and one NAS on a network with a Linksys 8 port switch and a Linksys BEFSX41 (4 port firewall router) using the router for DHCP for a broadband connection. The NAS and 6 of the computers are getting IPs properly and can get on the internet, but 2 of them are pulling IPs such as 100.100.100.107 (the last 3 change) and will not pull the proper 192.168.1.107 instead. Both of them however, can see everyone else on the network alright and can see the NAS that is used as a server for them.

Anyone have any idea why the IPs aren't getting issued properly to the machines?

Thanks

They are all Win2k Professional. The router range is 20 (from 100 to 119) but the NAS is set to use 192.168.1.150. So they only use 8 of them and then the 150 one.

I set the IP to be static on one of the ones that was showing the incorrect IP address and when it restarted it didn't keep the set IP, it went back to Obtain IP automatically.

It sounds to me like something is screwy with the networking of those 2K boxes. Can you try to uninstall/reinstall TCP/IP?

And have you got all the drivers for the NICs and motherboards up to date?

I'll try both of them and see if that fixes it. Won't happen until Monday though (have to do it over the phone).

Thanks for the help, I'll let you know if it works.
