small notebook power adapters?

I recently bought an asus z70va, and it is great. one problem, however, is the power adapter is huge. at least, compared to the ones that my friends use on their apple notebooks.

do any companies make AC adapters that are small and light, not so bulky as the standard notebook adapter? and where might i find them?

I guess it just depends on what laptop you get. I have an Asus Z63a (w3a) and the ac adapter is pretty small on that(smaller than the one on my old Dell 600m). I'd say it's comparable in size to the one that came with my friends 14" ibook. Although, the ibook one is more square shaped compared to my rectangular looking one.

There are a few; RadioShack makes a universal adapter called the iGo that's pretty small; I believe it's about 80$.
However, with the exception of some Centrino laptops, PC processors tend to use much more power than Mac laptops. More power results in a bigger power supply.

but the thing about ibook adapters is there is no big clucky ac adapter part. it seems to be all built into the plug that goes in the wall. the apple adapter is just a squarish white box that plugs in the wall and has a long thin wire to the computer.

my adapter, as well as almost all other notebook adapters, have a wire from the wall, to a big heavy block, with another wire to the computer.

I have been looking for one for years....

and to correct you we have a wire from the wall, to a big heavy BRICK, with another wire to the computer. 😀

If you find one please post your findings.
