i was thinking about using some second hand parts that I have.
I have all the parts:
450 Watt PSU
Celeron D and compatible Motherboard
Case
NIC

All I really Need is a hard drive (or 2)

Also, What distro of linux should I use (don't say windows)
 
Debian, or if you're not comfortable with Linux, Ubuntu. I use Ubuntu 6.06 server and installed with the LAMP option. Got everything up and running in a few minutes, popped it in a closet and haven't needed to bother with it in months.
