Small dust piece seen in viewfinder

I have a Rebel XT and today I noticed a small eyelash shaped object in my viewfinder. It isn't in any of the pictures and it looks like it is on the piece of glass above the mirror if I look inside the lens mount. Is it worth trying to blow it off with a small blower and risk blowing dust onto the sensor or it better to just leave it alone since it won't show up in pictures?

I wouldn't think twice about blowing it out in a clean environment.

Some people will place a damp cloth on the work surface for dust that blows out of the camera to cling to.

YMMV

I've used one of those "rocket blower" things to get similarly located dust removed from the viewfinder of my DSLR without issues. Go for it (carefully)!

The "Rocket Blower" is something every photographer should have in his or her bag, DSLR or not.
